It can be a good thing to put an additional point into lock picking. Not needed, but it does reduce the chance of your lock pick breaking as well as it lowers the starting timer for picking locks.

you should definitely craft any quality nerd outfit and wear it when you read magazines. this outfit gives you a chance to +1 magazine on every magazine you read. I think it starts at 5% chance on quality1 and you have a whopping 50% chance on quality6. This makes it, hands down, the most OP in the game from quality of life point of view... theres like 1980 magazines in the game.. just saying.

@@NotAGamerGaming or keep it in your bike (btw outfit is only 1 piece). so like that you wont have to waste more than one slot. Dont forget to craft new one everytime you level your armor crafting. Right now nre strategy: people are investing ALL their skill points into armor to get as many and as fast as possible armor crafting magazines to craft quality6 nerd outfit before anything else. Clothing stores is the place to get armor parts, cloth, leather and legendary parts to craft quality6 gear and weapons.

I would wait, the crucible which is needed to forge steel is the last item in the forge ahead book series. Might be quite a while before those can be crafted.

@@NotAGamerGaming just mine 9 stacks of stone (wait for a quality3 iron pickaxe will help a lot! also invest into miner69er and motherload asap) and sell to traders with sugarbutts, cigar and whatever better barter gear or perks you have. TADA you got yourself a crucible for very cheap! Be sure to use your best perks, food (sugar butts and CHEESECAKE!) + awesome sauce on last trader with crucible so you get maximum dukes for stone and cheapest crucible ever.

You just need the 1 point in lock picking. They nerfed it some so it doesn't help book progression past a certain point. And it's meaningless as far as breaking lockpicks go. It could still take 1 or 20 lockpicks no matter the pts you have into it.
