In fairness, he gave the choice a lot of thought, and his line of reasoning was actually quite sound. I understand being upset that it ended so poorly, especially since it happened that way because _the Wendigo attacked someone who wasn't moving_. The rest of the game, 'not moving'='safe'. This is the ONE exception. So... yeah, it was kinda bullshit.

MorganaRowan Oh absolutely! It was bullshit and the totem for that very scenario is SUPER vague,as are some of them really, and there's no given reason for it to happen outside of the fact that Mike has been written only with canonical deaths that happen in the last chapter of the game(spoilers??). However, In the game's defense, which is a weak defense and I do stand more so behind Mark in this aspect. (I just find the scenario funny hence the comment) The Wendigo is attracted to the sound of the breaking lightbulb, (which is bullshit since they rely primarily on their sight in this game) and Mike makes only one very subtle movement of lowering his arm after breaking the lightbulb. The biggest indicator, in game, of whether the Wendigo may attack Mike is all in the wording of the choice which just says 'save Mike'. And in Mark's defense, again, sometimes doing nothing is the better choice and and the save Mike option only really says that Sam will distract the Wendigo, which for all the player knows, may get Sam killed in his place. tl;dr The game's vagueness is bullshit in a lot of ways and Mark has every right to react the way he did, his reasoning was thorough and sound in the situation. I just found the hard reset he did hilarious after just stating he had made peace with his decision. (this reply was probably unnecessary but I felt you deserved some sort of reply to such an addition to my comment)

Josh's entire story was so sad to be honest. As Mark mentioned you can read in his medical journals that he's had mental health issues since childhood, struggled with various treatments that didn't work, and after his sisters died things only got worse. He very very briefly seemed to be the villain of the story but really he was just a victim in the end and I felt really bad for him.

Well actually maybe they had been possesed by the Wendigo Spirit. Just think about it. The flamethrower guy wrote down that do not kill the Wendigo because it will release the spirit and it will posses you. There was 12 miners which means there was 12 wendigo at the begining. 6 wendigo were already killed by the flamethrower guy. The other 6 were captured, but they escaped later but they died too. So we have 6 wendigo spirit and 7 heroes. So a next game or something could be about their fight against the Wendigo Spirit.

Well, he wanted to be with Hannah forever. In his eyes, becoming a Windigo was how he could be with his sister again. Since that’s what he really wanted, then that’s not as bad as you think. It’s bad for everyone else that goes back to the mountain, but Josh got what he wanted.

Jessica was easily the character I felt for most. She had no idea what was going on. She gets dragged away, out of commission for hours, and when she wakes up the first thing she has to do is hide from this creature which she didn't even see until now. She without a doubt will have PTSD from this whole thing

Okay... So in the cut scene where Stranger is talking about Hannah and Beth, the Wendago has a special name and a slightly different look... And out of anger, Stranger kills that wendigo letting its (im guessing superior spirit) out not thinking Hannah survived the fall with a human meat source. So when Hannah became a wendigo the only wendigo spirit around was the (again guessing) leaders spirit, so would that mean Hannah is now the superior wendigo? And thats why she just looks stronger and just different in general compared to all the others? Like all the others who are significantly older look more decomposed and smaller while she looks cleaner... Idk just a theory

@@Azenithf Perhaps, as this is in Josh's head. But if Josh was seeing/thinking this for more than one or two sessions, and it wasn't resolved, I think something's amiss. Either the psychiatrist didn't have his head in the game or he just wasn't bothering. You don't stop monitoring a person after you've given them the meds you _think_ they need, you monitor and watch them even more closely. If therapy and then these particular drugs aren't working, think of something else. If multiple anti-depressants aren't doing something, is this person medicine-immune, or is this even depression? I mean, I'm not a licensed professional (I'm still a student) but even I know depression and schizophrenia are WILDLY different. Schizophrenia can, and a lot of the time does, have symptoms of depression, but there are other symptoms. This should especially be taken into account after such a hard trauma, as schizophrenia LOVES revealing itself after an outside stressor--especially a major one like the preventable death of his younger twin sisters--unlocks it.

Say what you will about everyone else, but Josh’s story was the most tragic out of everyone’s. I genuinely am heartbroken for him. Suffered from insanity for months due to grief, I assume, and eventually became lost to the Wendigo Curse :(

If you read all the documents, Josh was being wrongly treated with depression for years, when in fact he had schizophrenia. That, plus the grief of losing his sisters, drove him over the edge and he stopped taking the meds (which weren't even the right meds in the first place but they were the only thing keeping him sane) And he gets no happy ending, he either lives as a wendigo or gets killed.

The worst part is, if you look at his medical records (I can't remember in the game where you find them...) he wasn't even given the right meds. He was being given medications to treat depression (which it doesn't seem like he has) rather than schizophrenia (which I am almost certain he has). It says in his records that the medication never worked, but he took it anyway. Josh never got the help he really needed...

He probably didn't think it would really work, but figured it was worth a shot. He said he came too far to go all the way back through if he messed up again, so he might've tried that to see if it would actually bring him back to the beginning of that stage. If it hadn't then he probably would've just said screw it and dealt with his decision, because redoing the whole game would've been too much of a hassle.

Both Sam and Mike are scripted to live till the end. So you can mess up all game, but it will not change the end result in the final chapter. So how to kill everyone else.... Both Hannah and her sister are scripted to fall no matter what. Hannah is scripted to die at the end no matter what. Sam and Mike are scripted to live to the last scene no matter what. However, if you don't do the last scene right both can still die. Jess is scripted to die if you follow the trail when she is captured and dragged. Matt can die if you kill a caribou with the ax or don't give him the flare gun. The wolf will die for Mike in the sanatorium. Emily can die if you decide to shoot her after she's been bitten while you're playing as Mike. Josh will die only if you don't have Sam and Matt read Hannah's diary in the mines near the end. If you read it he will become a Windigo. Flamethrower guy dies no matter what. Chris will die if you shoot Ashley with the pistol loaded with blanks. Ashley will die if you take the side path away from the party when you hear Jess and open the door leading to lower levels.

MaurieIsland A possible explanation to that is that Josh was not aware Chris had also passed out. Trying to explain afterwards that he had nothing to do with it was probably futile, as Josh saw everyone as part of the prank, including Chris and Sam, who essentially took no part at all. Also consider the fact that he might be increasingly antagonistic towards Chris if he chooses to save Ashley instead of him, which I can kinda understand and think it's a low blow seeing that they've been friends since the third grade, as Chris mentioned.

MaurieIsland, If you heard them talking throughout the beginning when everyone first arrived, they're best friends. I mean they got blackout drunk together at a party when there was a million other things for them to do, that's some friendship Their relationship defiantly shows and I think it actually is really important to the story. That being said, if you go back and listen to some of the times he talks about Chris he always talks about how he just need to risk it with Ashley. How he just needs a "little push". That being said, Josh never meant to torment or torture Chris during the whole situation. All he wanted to do was help his best friend get with Ashley. Of course it's not the right way to go about it, but poor Josh was obviously ill and that was his own sick way of helping In fact he even mentioned to Sam when they were going down to the basement that "the only way he'd go for it was if someone was holding a gun to his head" or something along those lines, which you can see turns out to happen later in the game thanks to Josh. Personally Josh is my favorite character. His personality, problem, and relationships really intrigue me. You can see the bromance between him and Chris, the friendship between him and Ashley, the pent-up romance between him and Sam, not to even mention the others. He really only wanted to hurt those in on the prank throughout his little game, not Chris or Sam. He probably thought it'd be a good opportunity to give Chris that "little push" during it however.

Josh ended up doing all of this because he has Schizophrenia. He stopped taking his medicine because its not helping him. The medicine they gave him was prescribed for depression. Watch the Game theorist for more details after you've watched Mark play it.

Rage virus and zombification are 2 diverse concepts They’re talking about another matt death in the game. when playing as matt, if you don’t end up getting the flare gun from emily and don’t shoot it the death is possible. when the fire tower falls and you choose to save emily more than once, the game automatically makes matt jump. the next time you play as him a wendigo gets him and because you don’t have any defense, it kills him by hanging him on a meat hook by his neck.

I dunno about anyone else, but I felt super bad for Jessica at the end. Depending on what you say as Mike when they're in the guest cabin together, she can talk about how she's actually really insecure and how she thought Mike would hate her if he knew that. The main reason she got dragged away in the first place was also kinda sympathetic. She was just trying to defend her and Mike's actions, and was very annoyed and embarrassed when she thought their friends were following/watching them. Considering how their last prank went, I get why she was so upset. And then, seeing her with Matt and in the interview at the end, it just really makes you wonder how "bad" she actually was. Because a lot of teens are rude and want to fit in desperately, suddenly Jessica becomes one of the most sympathetic characters in this game, in my opinion. Her counterpart, Emily, can't have the same said of her. However, if Matt makes a good impression, it's revealed that she really does put her all into her relationships, even if they end up going under. So, can either of them really be called irredeemable or "the worst"?

Emily is also pretty insecure, especially about Mike dumping her for her ex best friend (Jessica) so she puts up a bitchy front to hide that. but i actually think Emily is a bad bitch, especially with how she managed to escape the wendigo, being the first character to encounter it. i don't think any other character (except sam and Mike) would've made it out of the mines alive like Emily did

Okay, what I think happened is, when Fire Man (Who gets that reference?) killed the Makkapitew and released it's spirit, it then possessed Hannah after she ate Beth to survive. Then a year later after Wendigo Transformed Hannah died because of the house exploding in flames the Makkapitew spirit then possessed Josh after the group was rescued.

7:10 Mark, if you didn't go to the left and find Hannah's journal, then you wouldn't have known she was down there, therefore you wouldn't have told Josh that Hannah was down there and Josh wouldn't have recognised Hannah as the Wendigo and the Wendigo (Hannah) wouldn't have recognised Josh so the Wendigo would have killed Josh. I really like your style of looking everywhere, Mark. It definitely helps save more characters and brings out a lot of more this that weren't noticed in previous gameplays (including mine).
