I've ridden several boards from different brands in my 14 years of riding. They all lasted me an average of 3 years before I wrecked them in some way. If you have your technique down and you build a setup that matches it's purpose (park board for the park, powder board for the backcountry etc), you find that there really isn't a "bad" setup. I started out on a '08 160W Burton Bullet and thought it sucked because I couldn't press it well or hit the rails. Years (and several boards) later, I rode it again on a whim and and had a great park session with it. Long story short, get your skills up before blaming a potential great board for your shortcomings.

I remember when forums with burton bindings were the go to setups. Forum Youngbloods and Destroyers, there late 2000s graphics. 2009/2010 are some of my favorite board graphics ever, Destroyers were fun, and even just some of the old forum logo designs are really iconic and look clean on the bottom of the board. Idk what the deal with them is anymore, but i noticed they changed there logo a bit and are putting out new boards. They should go back to the OG icon and just re use some old graphics tbh, they were the cleanest boards imo.

@@SearchofSnowboarding yeah, i actually peeped that site. I was pretty hyped on it but, eh they shoulda kept the og logo. I dont think they realize all they have to do is put out some iconic or nice F logo graphics, some of those are the cleanest to this day on the bottom of a snowboard. The destroyers in 2010 those were on another level, but tbh i rode alot of the F logo boards, they were good park boards, they were honestly good all around i think burton bought some tech from them that slide system, forum came up with that if im not mistaken, and then i started skating more and i didnt really realize they went out of business untill like years later. But they have alot of skin in the game, and og models, people are all about retro and old stuff theyre stuff would sell like crazy but i personally think they should re release some old graphics and go back to the original F logo, the old jp walker and peter line boards, just a blue backround, with a white forum logo, or a white backround with a purple logo, or tilt the logo, all they need to do is release boards like that and theyll sell like crazy. They had some dope hoodies to.

I'm addicted to buying Snowboards. Started with a Decathlon board (Big sports company - 1993), Burton Carving Board (Raichle boots etc), Burton Big Air, Burton, Nitro (Black something - brilliant board) GNU (broke it in two on my second run), Bateleon (didn't like the TBT), Never Summer (bffff), Salomon Dancehaul (ok), Ride Peaceseeker (topsheet peeled off), Capita Mega Death (wow). It's great having all these cool brands. I love your content as you come across as a decent bloke passionate about what you do. There is no one brand that rules all. I do love Capita and Nitro but next year will probably go for a Jones or an Amplid. It's so much fun to try another brand. Of course ya gotta pay some respect to the OG companies who helped progress snowboarding to what it is today though the decision to outsource factories to cut costs is where I draw my line. It isn't hard to find out where a company's factory is based these days. For me its simple, support a company who is still doing it for the love of it, not the love for money.

Arguably the best board in every category comes from different brands, but for mass market companies that create the best range, where every board ranks near the top of every genre, i would say YES and Amplid are consistently at the top. We wouldn't have the orca and volume shifted trend without these 2 companies. When it comes to profiles, outlines, side cuts and core tech, these 2 have been the most progressive of the last 5-10 years.

I grew up riding Tahoe, mostly Squaw, got a job there straight out of high school working P-lot so I had maximum ride time. And, I can say without a doubt, in the 90s anyways, Burton was the best hands down. You got on Burton and off whatever else you were on, and the Burton, in one run had you literally 10x the rider you were a run prior on something else. No exaggeration there. I rode my last seasons on a Custom before I moved to Hawaii and basically stopped snowboarding…I also blew out my ACL snowboarding, which is why I sorta moved on to warmer places. Long story short, I decided to go on a snowboard trip for the first time in decades and am playing catch up on gear and tech advancement. A buddy I surf with here is a pioneer of snowboarding who was Sims’ VP in the 80s, responsible for writing Craig Kelly’s first contract. His grandson is a sponsored grom in Alaska and tells me the tech has caught up and Burton isn’t really the leader anymore. For an old school guy like me, it was hard to believe, but he convinced me to buy an Orca, even though the LibTech I had growing up was a complete dud and held back my progress. I’m hoping the tech has indeed caught up and all the boards are similar with regard to their performance levels. My OG 90s custom, last time I rode it was still awesome. I’m hoping the Orca gives me a new perspective, but doesn’t hold me back any. I want to bring one more board, and I’ve been looking at that Aeronaut thinking maybe it’s the best of both worlds, and has that Custom feel I was always accustomed to, but adds in some of the tech I have yet to experience myself. But it’s hard teaching an old dog new tricks, and so I’m torn between buying the Aeronaut and a new Custom X. It’s just so hard for me to believe that Burton isn’t the best anymore.

I’ve owned and ridden a lot of snowboards over the 30+ years I’ve been riding…. They were all fun to ride but 4 boards standout. 2 Solomon boards, one was a freeride board that I don’t recall the model, FR400? I wore it out and gave it to someone to learn on. The other Solomon I still have, sickstick, it’s starting to lose some of its snap but it’s a hot rod. 1 libtech skate banana, it was a big board, a 163 I think, it was super heavy but a super fun ride. I loaned it out and never got it back. And 1 rosignol powder fish. I think it’s called sushi or something. I don’t get the conditions to ride it a lot but when I do, it’s heavenly. It’s also super fun in slush. Other notables… I rode a custom x for three days that wasn’t as playful as I like but holy smokes I could go so fast on that thing and not feel unstable. I had a Burton flight attendant that I liked a lot for two seasons then I just didn’t like it anymore and couldn’t say why really, it got boring somehow… sold it. I liked a couple other libtech boards too but I don’t remember what models… all mountain type boards. If I had to pick one company, I’d pick Solomon. But Libtech never let me down either. Burton has treated me well. K2 has impressed me on occasion. Blah blah…. One thing that pushes the Solomon boards to the lead is they seem to be light weight. I’m not sure if they really are lighter, but they feel lighter both riding and on the lift. Also!!! Having multiple boards is the way to go. I like to have a freeride all mountain type board 150-155, a pow board fish shape, and a longboard, stiffish and 160-165.

If you don't care about riding a 'cool' brand and all the marketing hype, BUT you are more interested in getting THE absolute BEST performance and quality: Salomon and Nitro ( boards ), Burton and Nitro ( bindings ), Deeluxe and Nitro (boots) - I can also recommend Salomon boots BUT get the wide version of their boots if you can - their standard boots are narrow. Most important piece of gear IMHO are the boots, followed by the board (with correct sizing and spec) and lastly the bindings (correctly sized to fit the boot size and board waist width).

Good video but you should also provide some criticism for the the boards/companies instead of saying everyone is good. It gives a fuller picture of the products and helps everyone make a more informed decision

It's all subjective to the users riding style, so it is going to be a different list for everyone's style

No-one does. All the companies make stuff you will like and stuff you will not. I was always a 100% Burton fanboy in the 90s and 00s but the board I bought this season was from Bataleon.

I haven't been on a Bataleon before, but they def have a devoted following

I figured that’s what your answer was gunna be. And I agree for the most part. I currently own 8 boards a one from every company you mentioned outside of nitro. Like you mentioned the boards are all very comparable in all aspects. IMO tho Jones bases are just a notch above the rest at that $500-$700 pp.. I slept on Jones until last year was always a big capita and lib guy, but def am leaning harder and hard Jones way. I would say if you’ve never tried a Jones, grab the reg Mtn twin($550) or the Frontier($500) you won’t regret it Especially after I bought a Mercury last year and after 3 rides it broke and I’m only 160lbs and have never broke a board and when I contacted them they pretty much told me it was my fault. Also owned the first year of the super DOA and the top sheet was trash, also after 3 runs was missing a good amount around the edges, they again told me not their fault, when I’ve never had that happen before. Which is dissapointing cause the DOA has been my baby for 7+ years, and loved the merc, but with those bad experiences it’s hard to send people their way when they ask my advice like many do.

I have a quiver of 5 boards but owns more. I truly believe that you love the brands that fits your body properly: i am 173 cm but weigh sometime 70 and often 80 kg with small médium feet (41) i have noticed i love narrow waist and stiff boards. Not necessarely cambered but quite stiff. I would love to ride à capita mercury or a amplid dada in pow but the waist are often too wide for me so i ended loving a rossignol revenant, stiffer in the middle, narrower etc etc. I even loved a head instinct (weird huh) super narrow méga stiff but a true gem in Park. For jibbing i dont mind riding à short burton nug it is not wide and stiffer than what you'd think for its purpose. I ride a huge 178 swallow tail board for long open runs in pow. No problèm as long as it is not wide and quite stiff. My main criteria now is not the brand it is the Flex and the waist measurements. I made mistake buying boards too wide.... I could not handle it even on super soft noodle boards. Maximum for me is a 25.6 waist... But on a carving board. Some brands are too wide for me. I love them but dont buy them. So go to a true snowboard shop that will sell you something that fits YOU first.

Sick, sounds like you've got your quiver dialed. I've been really liking the narrower waist on the Capita Aeronaut
