I think you need some type of gas to run this I believe the older steam powered cars would use hexane or kerosene to heat the water but I don’t know for sure. It would definitely do better than any modern gas guzzler.

@k7080 steam vehicles weren't common until the late 19th and early 20th centuries... the first steam locomotive wasn't built until 1804 which is the start of the 19th century. Steam didn't fall out of use until the 1950s for heavy engines, earlier for smaller engines like cars it fell out of use around the 1920s.

@@SailingQuicksilver steam engines need precise management of water levels in the boiler. Mess up and it explodes. As for internal combustion they can and do explode regularly.

@@juice6199 It is. The Swiss actually built some steam trains like that. They'd started electrifying their rail network, but still had mostly steam locos running on it (as in, they had the electric infrastructure in place to run electric trains, but hadn't managed to replace the trains themselves yet) And then the second world war broke out. They were previously getting most of their coal from Germany, who refused to sell it to them if they remained neutral and didn't join the German side. To get round this, they modified they're steam trains to pull electricity of the network and electric heat the water in the boilers.

Nuclear power plant are essentially steam engines, they boil water and transform into steam, to power a turbine (instead of the piston, inside a steam turbine the expansion is more efficient). Steam engines never left ❤
