I love how the video shows a wide range of reasons people can get surgeries ranging from facial defects to other medical reasons to body improvement surgeries. This defeats the stereotype that the person with the most surgery does it for beauty reasons. Nice job jubilee.

That sentence confused me. On one side, people advocate for plastic surgery (non-medical) claim it allows them to be "the best version they can be" and that's it's not done to please others. but on the other side, there's people like her who say once they learned to love themselves, they realized there was no need for it. So which one is it? To me, it seems like although the former may say they do it for themselves, really at the end of the day, most if not all plastic surgery is done to fit in with the people around you/your surroundings, and to say otherwise is probably a lie

I lived in China for 6 months. I'm a non-Asian woman. I was shocked how many ads marketed to women featured Caucasian women. The few Asian women in ads had Western facial features. It's probably unfair to say Asian women want to look White through their plastic surgeries. But some of the most common plastic surgeries in Asian countries do just that: rounder eyes, larger nose bridge, etc. The woman who took offense to that notion here had one herself. The reality is in every country, women are told they need to look different, which is sad.

I had Jessica as my pastor when I was younger when her and her family lived in Florida. Might I just say, some of the most amazing people I have ever met! Her father was the head pastor of the church and was equally as amazing. I know there is a stigma around church people being very judgmental, especially the people who lead, like the pastors, but they just weren’t like that. I remember there would be some people angry at church at some of the opinions that the pastor held that didn’t align with the bigotry that so many people would cling to. Truly was a “love your neighbor as yourself” family and not a “love your neighbor only if they agree with your beliefs and judge them if they don’t.” Really miss those guys.

And Asians come in diverse looks . Some of my friends have more defined and strong jawlines and some of us have slim oval jawlines (both males and females ). I have strong jawline and cheekbones as a female and I love it . I had uneven eyes one monolid and one double . I did get double eyelid surgery to match it but never once thought oh to fit in with Eurocentric beauty standards . And if anyone asks why didn’t I make my other eye a monolid instead it’s because I don’t think it will suit my strong cheekbones and jawlines . Idk about other Asians as beauty standards differ across the continent but from what I’ve seen of Koreans, they get surgeries to look like Korean celebrity women like Kim Tae Hee or BP Jisoo , and these women do not look western at all and will not be mistaken as white women in western countries. I think those are some of the things that need to be considered before Asian people such as yourself try to go after those saying that they think this stereotype is untrue. I think you are contributing to people whitewashing ethnic features; such as the double Eyelids (epicanthic folds) that Asians have, that are very different that double eyelids that white people have. I’m a korean American with an oval face, eyes with double eyelids, tall nose, pale skin , and have inherited these features from the generations of Koreans before me and never have I been mistaken to be a white woman. I find that very ironic as my features on my ethnic face are so called stereotyped “white features

E.g. the result of double eyelid surgery doesn't actually look like white people's eyes they look more similar to natural double eyelids in Asians.

These traits being naturally present in East Asians doesnt change the fact that the beauty standards are Eurocentric. The reason why these rare but natural facial feature have become the beuty standards vs other equally rare facial traits is because the are closer in apperance to Eurocentric beauty standards.

It was the summer before by senior year of High School & I’ll never forget how mean kids were that I got plastic surgery & how no one understood that it was for medical reasons as well as correctional. I got bullied before for the underbite & then bullied after for correcting it. My only regret with that surgery was not waiting to get it done until after I graduated. However, after looking at this video, I realized that plastic surgery can be used for many reasons like to improve health and in some instances, it can help a person love themselves more. So who am I to judge a person's personal choice.

I had a breast reduction too. So so happy I did it. My back is still recovering but its already made so much difference. I had to differently sized breasts. This really messed with my spine and it made me stand crooked. Now that they're basically equal and smaller it's such a relief. Also went from 32J(smaller one being 32F) to 32E which is funny. Nice to see people with the same issue. It's not an easy decision to make and it was a very difficult recovery, the scars are still not properly healed and they will be very visible for the rest of my life. I knew this beforehand but something really neede to be done and I accepted the consequences. I'm very happy I did it and I feel more comfortable in my body.

I figured the person with the most would have had a cleft pallet. I have a friend who was born with that and had 12 reconstructive surgeries and it still isn’t fixed. Also wanted to add this because of Ahmad’s comment at the end about “elective” surgeries: a kidney transplant is considered elective, so take that into consideration if someone tells you their insurance wouldn’t cover something because it was labeled as elective. It might still have been necessary to them for their quality of life, just not to the insurance company. I would know. A kidney transplant is so much better than dialysis.

And there are a lot of Asians who naturally have double eyelids! In fact, amongst my circle monolids are not as common (I’d say 90% of the people I know have double eyelids & 70% of the general Asian population where I’m from have double eyelids). So what’s this argument about Asians who go under the knife to get double eyelids are trying to be more Western? Because double eyelids are not even uniquely a Western feature to begin with! The ignorance, geez. Most (not all) Asians just prefer the look of double eyelids over monolids. It’s a beauty preference, not an attempt to be more Western. It’s just like how some Caucasians get plastic surgery to have a thinner nose because they think a thinner nose would look better on their face, not because they want to be “even more Caucasian”/ look like some other ethnic race. And if the argument that Asians want to look like Westerners is true, they won’t be bringing pictures of Asian celebrities to their plastic surgeons, they would be pictures of Western celebrities.

I use to be unhappy about certain facial features about myself. I use to wear makeup and thought it made everything better, but, it just made that unhappy feeling worse because I constantly needed to cover it the truth and makeup myself to a point where I felt is appropriate for the public. In the Covid19 pandemic outbreak we were forced to wear facial masks. During this time I later on preferred to not wear any. As time went by I realized that there is nothing wrong and that the Idea of changing myself to look a certain acceptable way comes from outside myself rather than in and that my unhappiness was a weakness the world's beauty trends fed off, and instead of making me feel better about myself it made me think that I will only feel better once I got an "easy" fix done, which is false. I feel like many people feel this way is the out route because many advertise it that way and the beauty industry actually wants it this way. I am happy with my natural look. It took me to accept me for who I am and what Uniqueness I have. I don't want to be a copy of another, which many of those getting these surgeries not actually get. Once your happiness become worse about yourself you will be pulled towards such places and you will get your fix. I suggest many of you who are currently unhappy about yourself, find the mental capacity amd ability to accept it. No plastic will ever romve the real you. That's why one surgery never feels enough because it became easy to cover up your lie but actually you're lying to yourself mostly. Positive confidence comes from the mental ability to find yourself and BUILD on what you have. Don't fix yourself because others say you can and that you need one, cause you don't.

beauty is totally subjective though. like i personally find them all beautiful, but even then there are things _I_ personally don't care for (like breast augmentation to the point where it looks painful for example.) plus, the girl who had the most surgeries is so pretty, it was just corrective in her case... her parents could have decided to delay surgeries or not even choose to do them and I bet she still would have been cute.

I disagree. To me, the 3 most beautiful are the 3 with the most surgeries. Its almost as if everyone has a different opinion on beauty.

Cassidy has obviously had a cleft palate repair, probably when very young. I was wondering if they'd have anyone with non-cosmetic plastic surgery in the group.

A lot of Chinese women do get surgery though... it's not a stereotype it's just a reality. There is probably more colorism in Asia than anywhere else.

Emma: Im so *flattered* that people think I've had so much surgery ^_^ Emma: has literally the second most amount of surgeries. People took one look at her and knew all the stuff she had done, yet she still had the balls to act like they were guessing incorrectly? What a weird way to act about it. Be honest about it at least. People like that who get surgery are so toxic.

what? she said she was flattered people thought she'd had surgeries she didnt. just because she had a lot done, doesn't mean she cant be happy about that. i didn't think she was being toxic at all tbh

@@lunisenlilja But... she DID have the surgeries they thought she had. She's in denial. That's toxic. Edit: You can be proud of what you had done. She wasn't. She was proud of what she *hadn't* had done. But she's had something done to every inch of her body except her feet lmao. If you're built by a surgeon, admit it. Don't try to act like you're all natural though. It creates TOXIC beauty standards and makes other people feel badly about why they aren't shaped like that naturally. Because it's not natural.

@@spaceinveda7408 she... didn't act like she didn't have them. she's legit in a video talking about the procedures she's had. she just said they pointed out things that she in fact had not done :) she's not hiding anything or pretending to be natural... you gotta realise that not every single thing said will make it into the video. you're judging a person and calling them toxic based on one sentence they've said in a youtube video.
