This number brought down the house at the recent matinee I attended. I had tears running down my cheeks by the end of it.Terri White is amazing. And there's still three weeks left to see the show in NYC!

I was fortunate enough to see that production, and it was a true showstopper. I would have to say overall, the London production of 2018 is superior, but this number was probably the High Point of the production

The show closed today here in NY. I got to see it last night. It's the first time I have seen a number literally stop a show. Standing ovation which went on for several minutes. Thrilling! And Terri White was amazing. Been a fan of her voice for years, but who knew she could dance like that?!

First, this iteration and the cast are superb. Second, Mr. Sondheim deserves every kudo he ever received for Follies. Third, As too often happens, the fantastic orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick, which give fantastic life and depth to the melodies, get overlooked. Listen to them carefully and hear how sparkling they are.

This is the BEST thing I have ever seen on the theatre. Never again will a cast this superb ever be assembled together on a stage. (Elaine Paige is comic genius in this number!)

I personally think the National Theatres production is far superior to any of the other past productions of Follies. If you get a chance to see it before it closes you won't be disappointed.

You are right I agree I was fortunate enough to have seen that and have also seen this one. I think the London production is one of the greatest shows I’ve ever seen period.

One thing you don't really get in this vid that really struck me was the girl playing the young Stella. The mischievous, knowing way she smiled while she watched her older self made the whole number haunting and mysterious to me. But then I was close to the front, a lot of people might have missed it.

My favorite part of that whole number is when Elaine Page walks into the wall cuz she runs out of room.

@menashadude It was my first-ever Broadway show! I did also get to meet Bernadette Peters (a dream of mine since 1988 andthe reason I saw the show in the first place). Who knew I would see Elaine Paige perform on top of all that! What a terrific night. All of the performances were stellar, I can't say enough. I live in Wisconsin and can't believe I had such a magical experience all in one night on Broadway!

"Who's that Woman (Mirror Mirror)" from the original FOLLIES may be the Greatest Single Number Ever Performed in Any Broadway Musical -- Ever!! How Bold and Daring of Them to Try to !Duplicate it. And, How Good of You to Film this Number and Post It here on Facebook for All to See! I consider that a Real Public Service!

Passable, but can't hold a candle to the original Michael Bennett choreography and conception, still one of the most breathtaking numbers in the history of musical comedy -- the clear delineation between the aging chorus girls and their "ghosts," bathed in eerie washed out white light and frumpy Mary McCarthy singing her guts out while her svelte former "self" echoed her movements behind her, the hollow taps of the ghosts echoing at their first appearance. It would cost a fortune attempt it.

Have they ever cast someone who played one of the younger versions of the main character as a main character in a later revival?
@kenalanfitness11 ай бұрын
Yes, in Los Angeles Kurt Peterson (original Young Ben) played Ben in the 1991 production in Long Beach, California.

We are so disappointed that Bernadette Peters will not be doing the show when they bring "Follies" to Hollywood in May. Don't know who's going to replace her, but, then, there really isn't any replacement for Bernadette Peters no matter which way you slice it. This production must be solid gold.

This is lame. The choreography is very blah. No wonder it didn't do that well on Broadway. The only impressive part about it is the soloist actually tapping. You rarely see the older cast actually doing the moves. So brava! Otherwise I've found the dancing in this production to be sub-par. Without the huge "follies" aspect the show is not as good as it can be.

Sadly, Bernadette Peters can't sing. I wish they'd kept Victoria Clark as Sally.

The weakest version of this formidable song I have ever seen. When I saw this on Broadway it was a yawn. The biggest problem with that mess was that one performer was in a class by herself...and Elaine Paige was a distant second. The Broadway Baby number brought the house down and the show never got that good again. And Peters was a horror!

Talented people, but l wouldn't have cast them in "Follies"! Not casting shade, just an opinion!
