I'm digging around for the interview but Larry Allen was a freak in college. He reportedly did 60 225's before they just told him to stop. Keep in mind this was before he had a major injury to his shoulder with his AC cuff. He was actually stronger before the injury which caused him to drop in the draft, then had to train his lower body to compensate for the strength his lost. Even at 70% of what he was he just a freakshow.

adam logan I disagree, it depends on when you start training. If you grow up lifting nonstop you will hit your peak around your early 30s or younger. Logan King I would say Eddie Hall is stronger than Larry Allen. It’s just that Eddie doesn’t have to move fast or run down the football field like Larry, so Eddie’s main focus is strength training. Larry, in contrast, is a football player. He has to be able to move fast and run to play football.

For the level these guys go for Cena, Arnold (the terminator kind) , the rock etc. nail it that 400-450 at that level is low.If the rock can legit bench 450-500 and isn't at the level of a typical football player. that's pretty bad.

I was 5'11" and 245 lbs with 8% body fat when tested by a scanner in 2014....It's possible. I'm by no means a freak athlete or 6-4 like Larry Allen. And, by the way, the reason I was only 8-10% bodyfat in that year is that I worked 10-16hr shifts as a Derekman on an Oil rig in Texas. There are some huge guys on the rigs, they do exist you know. We had a guy that was 6-5 named Kirk Harper. Kirk was a huge black dude that worked as a driller on a rig that was often shorthanded. That guy weighed around 300lbs and there was no noticeable fat on his body. A man of similar strength to Larry Allen was Bill Kazmier the world's strongest man 3X. He was same size as Larry too. There are some freaks in this world.
@paysonfox884 жыл бұрын
@Jorge Vazquez I know you need some education on this subject. It's rare to find people in your life that are low body fat and high muscle. That's why people don't believe it's possible. But, check out some off shore oil riggers or old school Oil Rig guys who are genetically tall and broad. I've seen the refutation of your theory with my own eyes. I don't need to be told I'm a liar when I've known men who were 280+lbs at 6'5" tall and worked right along side me on the motors of a drilling rig. I was at an old school company in Big Spring, TX known as Robinson Drilling. They used the old 1980's style rigs where more of the lifting and work had to be done manually. I recall dragging a 400+lbs chain and placing it link by link into a junk box one day. Swinging a 20lbs sledge on hammer unions to tighten valves up and changing out 60+lb. Gaskets using 36" pipe wrenches will get you some arms boy. I was tested after about a year on the rig. Went back to College with the money I earned and got a Master's degree. Did a body Fat test coming off the rig at 10% Body fat. News Flash for ya -- NO workouts, no Steroids, no reason to do either, working 8 & 12 hour shifts on a goddamn oil rig for a whole year +. Tired as hell at the end of every day, eat, sleep, work,,, all I did .... First day back 2 weeks off a rig -- weighed in at 241 lbs in gym shorts , took a scan at 10.5% body fat. Had a 6 Pack showing. It is possible. I don't need to be told I'm a liar.
@paysonfox884 жыл бұрын
@Jorge Vazquez I hope we can be friends man. Right now I'm between 25 and 30% body fat and I'm around 270 lb. I'm a construction Foreman that really doesn't get out that much anymore. Theoretically if I just straight lost 30 lb and got back down to the weight I was at in college I would drop from 25 down to about 14%. (205/240). But weight loss doesn't work like that. In process of losing 30 net pounds, you would convert 10 lbs to muscle in my experience. That means that at 240lb. I'd be like 215 and muscle and nonfat. So that's 10.4%. And that's the number I was when I was working on the rig. It's crazy how the math works out with how I am now

How would the worlds best power lifters perform if the majority of their training was not lifting? or even physical for that matter. Cut their lifting by 66% and they would probably not fare well... IJS.
@dwhit26125 жыл бұрын
Ed Kelly bro you sound idiotic. So unless someone doesn’t do something while being judged by an official governing body then they have not done it. I ran 5 miles this morning. Only judge was my apply watch. Did I not do it? Benched this past Wednesday, no judges. Did I not do it? Gtfoh. No one is saying he did it in competition. But just because he didn’t do it in front of a judge doesn’t mean he didn’t do it. Bodybuilders, athletes and plain old people trying to get/stay in shape are the overwhelming majority of people that execute lifts everyday. Guess what. They did do it. You’ve got inferiority problems my guy. Ever do a push up? Did someone in the military judge you? Then you’ve ever done a push up! See how stupid you sound?

I broke 40 on full reps, but the last 3 were very hard. It's something you can train to do, if you're repping for a calorie burn workout. I was doing 20's that day on Circuits ( circuit training with 5 exercises in a set for 20 reps each and 3 rounds or more). Then we came to the bench, and the 4 of us were like "fuk it! Let's do the NFL combine test!" I will tell you that you won't be able to lift your arms out straight for the rest of the day, and the soreness will not completely go away for 2 days or more. By the way, my max for one rep Raw at the time was only 420 lbs. So it's just a training thing.

@@DreadPages back then I just trained different. I maxed out 420, but I was doing what I called 30s. I would bench press a specific weight low, medium, high chest for 10 each. I got to where I was loading 250 on the bar & doing a set of eight eight eight. My stroke for my heavy sets was a little bit different than most people's bench press technique. I went down to low chest, then move up by pushing the bar back and up at the same time. This got more muscle groups involved and led to a more efficient lift. I had to learn this for power lifting.

Except benching 225 for 50 reps is a terrible indicator of how well you would do in a 3 hour game, because those 50 reps only take 2 minutes. Better would be to see how many sets of 10*225 they could do with 10 minute intervals, but even that's a pretty garbage test. Bench is something they should test for shear strength, and they should have some sort of cardiovascular test or similar to test endurance, because you only use your pecs for very brief moments.

Like IQ tests, another instance of testing that largely only predicts how well someone does on the test. Actual NFL in-game performance is complex, requiring and interplay of different subsets of strengths developed tactfully to each athletes advantage. The best players aren't necessarily the biggest and strongest, but they have a combination of key strengths which they've trained themselves to utilize on the field.

Early in Allen's career, he was a lean player. Not sure about 11%, but he had the large solid stomach like WSM competitors. The fact that he could bench 700lbs without any sort of compression shirt or straps, is damn impressive.

Hey KTO just saying you should do what ifs for football again, those were my favorites. My idea for one is what if Ryan Fitzpatrick was consistently good. U doubt that those videos are coming back but it'd be nice.

Mike Webster. There was a "Strongest man in the NFL" Competition back in 1980. Webster was a complete animal. He benched 350 for 15 reps with a shoulder width grip and racked it because he had already won the competition (he had more left) and that was after he had deadlifted 500 for 20 reps and put on a show in the squat. He also cheat curled 250 lbs for about 15 reps. All that was PRIOR to the bench! Yes Webster was a walking display for PED abuse but I've never seen anyone in the NFL even come close. Btw, no disrespect to Larry Allen but he's not 11% body fat.

Nice! Thanks KTO! The only thing I would disagree with is Larry Allen's reported bodyfat percentage. There is no way his bodyfat was 11% at a weight of 325. Closer to 20% yes.....certainly NOT 11%. When you study what the human body looks like at different bodyfat percentages, you recognize this fallacy. Blessings, Dan

I know a kid 6'2" 295 who just turned 17 in June who just hit 40 reps of 225. By the time he gets to the combine he's gonna be gonna be pushing 60.
