Daym is shilling for McD's and capping...HARD! No one is paying $5+ for large fries unless it comes by the sack. The fries are roughly the same price at both joints. Wendy's fries are hands down the best. A slightly thicker cut which translates to more pillowy goodness on the inside after you crack through the crispy, rustic skin-on goodness on the outside. Hot&crispy, just as advertised. If they are ever cold or limp, I'm taking my fries back to McD's, BK's, Wendy's, or whomever for replacement. I'm not eating cold fries unless it's my fault for delaying gratification. (If I wanted just a non-crispy, warm potato...well Wendy's has that, too.)

I think y’all are thinking of the old new fries as they had sea salt and some skin on. I miss the ones before those as the sea salt ones were gross. There are these new, hot and fresh guaranteed. The recipe is different too. They are good. The thing with McD’s is, their fries are bomb when hot and fresh. I rarely get them hot and fresh though. So if Wendy’s can keep with the hot and fresh consistently, I would rank them higher! It is so disappointing when my fries are lukewarm from McD.

I used to work at a Wendy's in 1994. It's when they had the Superbar, the Big bacon classic, and breakfast that was literally cooked to order. I really liked their fries back then. People dipped them in the Frosty. I don't know why they changed them to include potato skins on them.

This is how good Wendy's fries are... one time got their fries through a drive-through and they forgot to put any salt to the fries. If these were McDonald's or Burger King's fries, then I would have been pissed off because their fries sucks without any salt, but with Wendy's... I still ate it and enjoyed it! There's something about the new oil or coating that makes their fries really pop off in flavor now. Popeye's fries are still #1 but Wendy's fries are definitely #2 in my opinion!

I still don't get the hype over McDonald's fries (or their food in general really). Their fries are only decent when they are just out of the fryer.... which pretty much never happens. But I'll say that the Wendy's fries aren't great either - better than McDonald's floppy cold fries, but not great. I never understood the hype of McDonald's fries. Back in the 70's when they were deep fried in beef tallow they had that unmistakable taste but still were not as great as a thicker-cut fry. Unfortunatenately, Originals, or "The Dirty O" in Pittsburgh, had the best hand-cut fries that were comparable to the fries I make from scratch but have hence closed down due to COVID-19. When Burger King back in the day made a head-on play to complete with Mcdonald's, I liked their fries much better. I haven't tried Wendy's new fries yet but I am looking for a better alternative to Mcdonald's.
