He's not everybody's cup of tea but I think he's a genius. If I have one gripe with him it's that he sounds fake-enthusiastic sometimes, like somebody bored trying to sound excited, but he comes out with more pearls in one tournament than Sid Waddell did in his career - only the boyish Geordie accent just made all the difference.

He qualified over the pro tour, where he could reach a final and had some good runs and a quarterfinal at the european tour

I tend to agree, although he's so well respected in the game by players and fans it's nice to see him. He probably makes a quarter of a million every few years from being in the sport, and he does earn his spot fairly. But I think it's his last tour card, to be honest, he's clearly not a top top player any more. He'll grace the Masters Tour I imagine, and could do well there.
