It's the Chicago Bears and Fields thing all over. Pats do not have the offence around him to support his development. He will gain bad habits like this. Better sit him, let him work on his game, learn from Brissett and next year you invest in the offence and roll him out.

Putting him in behind this line gives him too high a risk of injury. Drake Maye isn't good enough to carry this whole team by himself.Therefore there is nothing to be gained by putting him in this season.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. The patriots just had a young quarterback who they drafted in the first round for his football intelligence that they started in week 1 of his rookie year. It did not end well. Why would the result differ here, especially with a worse offensive line and defense?

There's a difference, mac was coddled with a top o line and top wide receivers in college and never got touched. Drake had a terrible o line in college and still balled out. Also, mac had a good rookie season, but was mismanaged by poor coaching choices for his other 2 (3 offensive coordinators in 3 years, with no help from wide receivers) ...lastly, he had a noodle arm and couldn't make plays on his feet or extend plays outside of the pocket. He would miss open receivers because he had zero mental toughness and was terrified of being hit. Mac would have been obliterated this last pre season game, yet drake wasn't sacked once because of his pocket awareness and ability to move.

The problem with this is that Jones was actually put in a great position that year. You sure can complain about the years after, but watch those games. Mac was protected by BB to death that year, and the team beat the Bills without throwing. My personal opinion on the matter is that Mac just wasn't all that good. And you can't win without a decent QB the patriots actually played well even though BB was canned they just couldn't score.

6:00 The LG (Sow) also stepped on Maye's foot, causing his cleat to come off mid play. Luckily Maye was fine and made a play with 1 cleat, but that could've been a freak accident.

I don’t think it will ruin him but there’s no need to force things. Let Brissett start and see how things develop with the rest of the offense. They may be playing multiple QB’s this year if O-line plays the way they did last night

here’s the thing. Those guys (LT, RG, and RT) were moved to those positions 4 days ago. It was Lowe at LT, but he’s injured for now, so Okorafor moved to LT, Onwenu from RG to RT, and rookie Layden Robinson at RG. it’s not excusable, but they don’t have experience there.

It’s a hard choice for Mayo and I don’t envy him. Maye has absolutely outplayed Brissett in pre season and honestly, showed how much better and more talented he is. But the O-Line and weapons are a question mark. Maye can raise the ceiling of the line more than Brissett can though.

I think he is the best QB on the team. I want to see him week 1 but I agree this line is going to be a disaster but at the same time that thing isn’t going to be the Great Wall of Dallas by next offseason! We aren’t going to get either 3 or 4 more solid players on that line… Joe Burrow and Herbert both had to deal with bad lines as rookies…
