Genetic testing is a complex topic. When my patients consider genetic testing, I refer them to genetic counselors to help them understand the implications and results of testing. That said, there are several situations where genetic testing should be considered:
- 1:39 Breast cancer patients younger than 50 years old
- 2:54 Male patients with breast cancer
- 3:38 Patients with "triple negative" breast cancer
- 4:27 People with multiple cancers, or types of cancer, in one or both breasts
- 5:06 Patients with Ashkenazi Jewish heritage, who may be genetically predisposed to breast cancer
- 5:30 Family history of early breast cancer or certain types of other cancer
