Let's be clear. The idea is to upgrade at the 4/5, i.e. a backup to PJ who could also backup Gaff or Lively should one of those two be out. That said, trading our Maxi for another team's Maxi (like Stewart who's injured just as much) is not progress.

Isaiah Stewart? An undersized center with low efficiency stuck on bad team but has a good season behind him where he played PF, also has athletic tools for this league. Man, that was PJ description last year. People where saying all kinds of trash about his defense and shooting. Idk, it turned out it helps winners to be with other winners. @ratede91 No... I'm not saying I'd definitely trade him for KD, but you telling me you wouldn't consider it? Part of my reasoning is that I think it would be better if you paired Luka with a superstar SF or PF rather than a small combo guard like Kyrie. Also, it would be better if the superstar next to Luka was more of a two-way player. I'm not itching to trade Kyrie, but there's reasons to consider it... He's a small guard, who's 33 years old, injury prone, and will be seeking a max contract at the end of the season. Are we 100% certain that Kyrie even re-signs in Dallas? The Celtics fans were pretty certain as well.

@ratede91 Also, remember that Luka was in the WCF with a completely different roster in 2022, so the Mavs and Luka don't need Kyrie specifically, but they need a player of his caliber to pair with Luka if they want to compete at the highest level. Do you think Mavs would be worse off if they swapped Kyrie for KD or AD? I'd rather it be a younger superstar than those guys, but I can't think of one in that elite echelon that Dallas could realistically acquire by trading Kyrie.
