Only just catching up to this one - another great video, filmed at my late father's favourite fishery and the video released on what would have been his birthday. Thanks for uploading and bringing back some great memories of my own of Garnffrwd. Cheers!

Great video as usual, with regards to your mint floater your using is it the same line rating as your rod or one size heavier? The reason i ask is i normally use a peach floater 444 and since reducing from an 8 weight rod to a seven fast action. I purchased a 444 in a #7 and it is far too light for the rod. My old #8 444 line loads it perfectly but sadly its many years old and at the end of its life so before buying the mint i thought i would ask. Cheers

With the cortland lines they're pretty well matched for the rating. I use a 7 line with a 7wt rod👍

Another great video Rhys. Do you know why brook trout are called Spartic trout in your neck of the woods? Just a bit of curiosity from here across the pond.
@RhysFishes
@RhysFishes 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Devin. It's called a spartic because it's a purposeful hybrid cross between a brook trout and an arctic char. There's a market in the UK for pursuing the more rare species like marble ,tiger, blue and spartics. So naturally, fisheries have catered for it👍

Hi mate just a quick question is your dad using an airflo super stik mk2 ? Been looking at getting a couple for fishing from the boat. If it is one could you let me know what he thinks of them ? Cheers !
@RhysFishes
@RhysFishes 3 жыл бұрын
He is josh. Its a good rod for subsurface work (fast intermediates/di lines) and its quite stiff so does literally feel like a stick in your hand. Better suited to the subsurface methods than gentle floating line methods 👍
