you missed the part where britain wanted to invade the USSR very early on after ww2, and the UK was much more willing during the cold war than france, france's characterisation i feel is pretty accurate, but i think britain was very similar to the US during this time, and also the US and britain during this whole time had a sort of much less antagonistic "internal cold war", where the US was trying to remove britain's colonies from its empire

It's not accurate. Tensions predated WWII - remember WWII started with soviet expansionism and a pact between the soviets and the nazis to split europe.Staline was killing millions of his people in the 1930s. The west knew what he was capable of and never really trusted him. When Nazism was no longer a threat they knew the soviets would become one.

The soviets by bringing in huge amounts of currency to cause hyperinflation all over germany the western allies doesnt want the punishing aproach. So they brought in the new Deutschmark and expanded the Marschall Plan to germany.

Soviet union did when they refused to liberate warsaw to destroy the pro democracy home front in poland and secure stalinist control over eastern europe. And you could argue it even predated WWII as we knew what stalin was capable of before the war (Holodomer, etc) and were preparing for an inevitable conflict with russia - then WWII happened instead.

They worked with the nazis to invade poland to start WWII, and when it ended they allowed the nazis to destroy any potential future resistance to occupation, laying the seeds to build the eastern block and the iron curtain.
