As a Russian liberal that is into politics both domestic and international I do think he has some interesting views. The US foreign policy when it comes to Russia is surprising unnuanced which doesn't exactly help in either resolving or taming the conflict, which hurts both the Ukrainians and Russians. Also, another question, do the rights of people trample the right of the state? For instance, what is more acceptable the right of people to self determination or the right of the state to defend its territorial control and legislative power. Basically, if let's say Crimeans do really want to be in Russia, does the Ukrainian state has the right to deny them their opportunity, by force if necessary? Basically same as Irish conflict or Basque or Scotland or Catalonia question. I do think the right to self determination of people stands supreme above all state's rights.

This guy was the one and only reason why I couldn't even get halfway through Hasan's video of him reacting to the debate. He had no clue what he was talking about at any given time, but he said everything with conviction and charisma. He constantly attacked everyone else on the stage and never let them fire back, and the moderators just didn't care. He doesn't know anything about politics. But lucky for him, having a basic understanding of how to run a government is not an important factor in winning the Republican nomination. He isn't a politician, he's a showman. It's genuinely funny to me how much _almost_ all of them are trying to just copy Trump. It's a losing strategy because obviously there's still Trump, who will outdo them. I mean, technically, if we stopped providing a stream of cutting edge technology to them, we would be conceding parts of Ukraine to Russia. The reality of the situation is this - the US sees a powerful Russia pushing to NATO borders, and Russia sees a powerful NATO pushing to Russian borders. The difference is, NATO has been pushing towards Russia for the last 30+ years. Remember the Cuban missile crisis? When Russia had powerful weapons WAY too close for comfort - and we shut that shit down? This is a similar scenario, except NATO are the ones who have crept up WAY too close for comfort - to Russians. I am not justifying any actions taken by Russian leaders, however, it takes two to tango, and if the US didn't want this war to happen - it wouldn't be happening.

I think he’s saying the quiet part of the US’s foreign policy out loud. I’m a firm believer that the day the US has its own semi-conductor manufacturing will be the day they throw Taiwan to the wolves. Once the US has no need for you when it comes to trade or foreign policy, you’re on your own. They ditched Vietnam, they ditched Afghanistan, they annihilated Iraq, and failed to get them back on their feet stably. Then again there’s South Korea which is a giant military hub for them, same with Guam, so it’ll either come down to a full blown military alliance where we have troops stationed there (if we don’t already, correct me if I’m wrong because I don’t know), or they’ll turn their backs on Taiwan.

the semi-conductor thing is 100% a good idea, but yeah, there are no MAGA voters who understand anything he is saying. not good for China to take over, but we can not rely on global supply of semi-conductors. it was the single biggest reason we had issues with electronics in the supply chain, along with why a ton of new vehicle inventory wasn't available, and the used market went through the roof. in my industry with vehicle repairs, it was a huge problem for parts. blown airbag? good luck: 6 months out for replacement, and you car is basically undriveable. hes also fucking crazy.

The tech the vehicle manufacturers use would have little effect on a fundamental requirement to build a circuit board. I think Ford came out and said they had to end up developing their own systems that were more compatible due to software issues. Nothing to do with the hardware. Software is an IP and regulation issue. The systems they employ require high safety standards because if they malfunction they could kill people. The new electric startups are having serious issues with the sensors because they’re so complicated. I’ve seen years of innovation with these systems but they all still require complex recalibrations in every collision or they do not work or, worse, work incorrectly and people trust them.

@@gdn86 The trouble for semiconductor manufacturers is that they don't want to produce (relatively) low volume low grade old chipsets that require older the maintainence of older production equipment. It's in the chip manufacturers best interest to have as much product as possible come from the same equipment and systems, and auto manufacturers adherence to older chops stop them from doing just that.
