Cool thing about this for me is that the Big Shell incident happens on my birthday, which is April 29th. Watching this reminds me of Metal Gear Scanlon over on the Giant Bomb from back in the day where Dan Ryckert would guide Drew Scanlon through the entire MGS series and really enjoying Tamoor's guidance and tips to Barrett and Mike etc.

Watching this is making me feel all sorts of nostalgia for when I played this. I didn't own a PS2 in 2001, but a friend of mine let me borrow his to play this, and on his recommendation, Grand Theft Auto III. (also Jak and Daxter! But... I didn't really like it...) Both of the games were life-changing for a gamer at the time. Seeing this replay is making me remember what an incredible game it is. It wasn't until years later that I realized some people hated the game. I was a part of a small video game message board community, but we all liked the game. My friends liked the game. Reviews were insanely positive. I didn't even really feel betrayed by the Raiden reveal, because when I started to play it I thought there were still going to be some Solid Snake-type character twists again. And for it to be the FIRST PS2 game I ever played? It was beautiful. I love this game. And because I said it in yesterday's upload, and will continue to say it in every upload for this game: I need scissors! 61!

I played this for the first time when I was 15 back in 2001. Truth be told, I did not understand the plot in the slightest and as such It's always been low on my MGS rankings. How naive I was. I've just finished playing it through myself for the first time in 20 years and my mind is blown. It is so far ahead of its time. I'm loving these streams and I'm glad it somehow convinced me to go back and re-experience them all for myself.

British Tim really needs to stop winking and nudging as they play through the game. Was catching up on MGS1 streams as well, and oh boy they were quick to spoil the trick to the Psycho Mantis fight as well. I wish they'd just let Mike/Barrett discover the game. I don't even think Barrett should have access to see the chat IMO. Every boss fight they get into, the strategies are just being told right away. When you play for real, takes some experimentation to figure this stuff out. Edit: LOL took me forever to figure out the guy they were calling "Tim" was actually Tam, aka Tamoor 😂

@@BarrettCourtney Good. They really aren't worth it unless you're into video game history or just THAT into Metal Gear that you need to see it all. Metal Gear 2 is especially impressive for game from 1990, and you'd be surprised how many of it's ideas get reused throughout the series. But for the average Metal Gear Solid player, you really don't have to know about them at all.

Rose does suck man, the Raiden Rose relationship is what holds this game back for me. On my main Metal Gear rankings this is only above Phantom Pain. Its actually surprised me over the years that people have this as their favorite. Not to say i dont love this game tho, it is still incredible, just more of like 9 other than the 3 10 out of 10s parts 1, 3, and 4 are for me.

Kojima didn't invent drones, 😂 those drones are real, used by the military, but only as prototypes. As you play thru the games, you'll see a lot of super crazy tech that was real military tech that was either too expensive to impractical to put into mass production.
