The vaccine, like all vaccines, exposes your immune system to the virus so it can recognize the virus. When you get exposed to Polio you have a SIGNIFICANTLY reduced chance of getting the disease and spreading it to others. There is still a chance you can catch it and spread it, but that reduction helps protect you and everyone around you.

This may sound gross, but if you are little and you have had your 2nd polio vaccine, your tibias may rubberband in the water while swimming. The solution is to swish them for 3 minutes or so while sitting on the edge. Your tibias will solidify and become capable of running. This is called cementing your legs. Maybe 4 minutes.
