“Foreign agent” law… This draft law was heard and implemented for the first time in Russia. The bill says that any person receiving financial or any other form of support from abroad can be defined as a 'foreign agent'. Because of this law, anyone working in foreign companies, media organizations or NGOs in Russia is considered a potential agent and is treated accordingly.
The adoption of the same bill by the Georgian government ignited the protests that had been going on for days in the capital Tbilisi.
This bill in Georgia officially aims to expose the flow of money from abroad, but the public fears it is a way for the government to stifle dissenting voices.
