it absolutely was, it created additional tension and stress as the hot seat progressed through the questions. millionaire is also a show based on objectivity, that there's only one right answer to every question, and the tenser music tends to hammer it home that there are three wrong answers to one correct answer.

Shout out to all the kids that watched this back in the day and were hyped when they could get some of the 100-1000 dollar questions right. Then stuck around just for the drama and scary music of the later questions, cuz there was no way you could answer any of the later questions.

The Hungarian version also had this background music for the first 5 questions. I still remember it clearly. The presenter was István Vágó, who was the Hungarian 'quiz guru', sadly passed away recently. This show was running from 2000 to 2006 in the early evening hours on RTL Klub. I grew up on this show. I have the book with all the questions. I have the virtual version on my PC (the older one with this music, and with Vágó's voice in it, and you can write questions in Excel for that game), and occasionally I play with it. :)

This song literally makes me SO nostalgic! I heard it at a movie theater called “Chunky’s” years ago where you sit in chairs that used to be car seats, and it played when they showed trivia questions on screen before the movie started. I had no idea where it came from, and then while searching for another song that I thought came from this game’s soundtrack, I found it and I was seriously so excited :)
