Who was Eric Matthew Gairy? - Grenada first PM!

In this episode of Island learning Grenada, we educate on Grenada's first Prime Minister, Eric Matthew Gairy. Gairy became Prime Minister upon the achievement of Grenada's independence on February 07, 1974. Gairy was from the parish of St. Andrew's. He formed the Political party, the Grenada United Labour Party (GULP) early in his political career. He used this party to move into popular politics and eventually to claim leadership in 1974.
