Noah Webster is my great great great great great great great great great grandfather, and recently I was digging through an old box. I found baby pictures of some of the Websters.

+Carefree Mofo We're related...lol. I'm descended from the Websters and Mygatts on Noah's father's side and from the Bradfords and Steeles on his mother's side. He was my 1st cousin, 8x removed.

So if Noah Webster is the father of the American Dictionary and Noah Webster is my grandfather, does that mean the American Dictionary is my uncle?

Dave I commented on another site, but I really like the Ben Franklin outfit with the swim fins. Stylish dude, could start a trend, or keep strangers away :-) lol.

Noah Webster probably was against American non-rhoticity. He probably prescribed how Americans are to speak, and I bet, according to Webster that means thou shalt not drop your "R's"

Our current 'spirit' of the times often trivializes meaning for the sake of brevity; it does a disservice for both listener and speaker, writer and reader; what could have been compiled in a sentence now becomes an annoying collage of words.

As a descendent of Webster, he was liberal for his time. He was just a man or his time. As a descendent of Webster I am sorry if you were offended

@@PigIA you don't need to apoplogize. You said it correctly. He was a man for his time. I'm Latino, a mestizo of Spanish and Indigenous Mayan blood. I will never apologize for any of my ancestors. They all did great things and bad things. I honor their greatness and learn from their mistakes. They were men and women of their times, not our times
