I think Detroit has the best young core for him to team up with and potentially create a dynasty. It would be amazing to see him play alongside Chet Holmgren or Walker Kessler though to form a shot-blocking duo like we haven't seen since Duncan and Robinson.

Loyalty is a rare virtue in today's NBA. I hope and pray Damian Lillard ends his career in Portland. And should that happen, he'll arguably become the greatest Trailblazer, Title or zip. Obviously not Dame's fault, but Portland's inability to get the best talent whenever having the top pick probably haunt them now. They have the 2nd overall in 1984 and 1st in 2007 (most of you knew the outcome). Same goes to Detroit in 2003 (2nd). And now "a generational talent" come forth and choosing doesn't require rocket science, they settle for the next available and quality talents that would turn into "big steal" in the long run should they put the necessary work and more. Unless traded, may Portland's 3rd pick turned into a "Jordan-like" selection. For Detroit's 5th, a "D-Wade-like" or second coming of "Zeke."

It sounds like it was Lebron. Tanking is overrated because, over the past 15 years - other than when Duncan and LBJ in Cleveland “Part 2” - the No. 1 overall pick doesn’t lead a team to the title. Kobe was picked no. 13. So much for being no. 1. Giannis, Kawhi at the Spurs, and Curry are the only draft picks outside of the 1st pick to lead teams to titles. Otherwise, external free agents or trade acquisitions are the best options. Those include LBJ outside Cleveland, Kawhi in Toronto, and that’s possibly it.
