Also one thing that really irks me is how casually ALA told Don about all the killing stuff. Your two-man theory is quite compelling. Wasn't planning on going down the rabbit hole on Zodiac this weekend. I ended up watching all your videos on this beginning with the X-15 and XB-70 which were great and then just became immersed in your Zodiac series. Made me think it's quite terrifying what one human being can do to another. I guess it is good to know all these suspects have passed away. Did Arthur Leigh Allen have a relative by the last name of Paradice? Remember in the documentary Don Cheney gave a reason (a rather poor one in my opinion) why his DNA and fingerprints might possibly be found around the letters. He just so happened to lick the stamps for Arthur and Arthur also managed to get a fingerprint from him. Seems a little convenient to me. Then again who is Don other than somebody who was barrel chested, had a widow's peak, went to school with Paul Avery, had that relative with the unusual last name And just so happened to know everything about the zodiac. The day before his scheduled polygraph test Don Cheney decided to get drunk. Nobody knows for sure but it's all very interesting to think about.

Forrest, you've outdone yourself! This is top-notch investigative journalism. I've been trying to identify Zodiac's identity for almost 20 years. I've read Robert Graysmith's books Zodiac and Zodiac Unmasked, seen the David Fincher masterpiece from '07, and watched several videos and documentaries. I've been obsessed with finding out who he is and spent countless hours going down different KZbin rabbit holes. Not only that, I've spent time just staring at all the locations on Google maps (addresses of victims/suspects and where the phone calls/murders occurred) trying to decipher Zodiac's modus operandi. I think this case is so intriguing because it's been unsolved for 50+ years now. Your video series on the Zodiac is so well done and honestly it's the most comprehensive collection of insights on the case I've ever seen. Bravo!

@@jonbonesmahomes7472 I've gone back and forth on who I think is the Zodiac. When I first got interested in the case I thought it had to be Arthur Leigh Allen because of all the circumstantial evidence against him. But then I heard that his fingerprints, DNA, and writing samples were not a match. Not sure if that's been definitively corroborated or not. However, as Forrest pointed out, any of the other suspects or persons of interest in this case could easily be identified as Zodiac. Allen is definitely the most consistent suspect, again because of all of the circumstantial evidence against him. Also, the new documentary surrounding the case, This Is The Zodiac Speaking on Netflix, lends more credence to the idea that he was the killer. It's very detailed and delves into his time with this family he befriended leading up to the murders. He frequented the area around Lake Berryessa and according to some witnesses, even some of the crime scenes. He owned the zodiac wristwatch and a pair of Wing Walker boots. Friends of his say that he made statements even claiming to be the zodiac. There's a bunch more stuff I could list and a lot in the new documentary. However, I don't think we'll ever really know the truth because so much time has passed and there's some credible circumstantial evidence against other suspects too. Much like the Jack the Ripper remains unsolved, I think the Zodiac case will stay that way too barring someone coming forward with new evidence or new DNA cropping up.

Zodiac in my opinion never left HIS fingerprints or dna on the crime scenes,he was only playing with the police,maybe left other fingerprints. It doesnt make sense to leave fingerprints if he wore gloves. Even after this documentary on netflix,i dont believe it was him. Why this family decided to speak right now? I’d like to make mention that I’ve heard in at least one other video that Leigh Allen visited a friend in Lake Tahoe. If I recall correctly it stated the friend owned a hotel. It’s quite possible the friend worked at a hotel and could be Lawrence Kane. Something to research if you haven’t already. This is one of the best set of videos I’ve seen yet regarding the zodiac killer. Your work is very thorough, I’m quite impressed. I hope to see more videos on this subject from you in the future. Excellent series!!! Thank you for all the work you put into your channel. I agree that it was these two suspects, and what stuck out to me is the markings on the Lake Berryessa car. The first 2 dates are in numerical format, but the 3rd date uses text and numbers with the time and method. I think it was intentional and signifies Allen was the killer on the first 2 dates, while a different killer (Kane) did the Lake Berryessa stabbings. I also think Allen's interview refencing a chicken (coward), was meant as a sick insult to Brian Hartnell.

I also believe that the Zodiac was two ppl working to throw off the police and the media. At first, I thought it was Kane and Sullivan working together. Sullivan and Cherri Jo Bates attended the same university in 1966. At Lake Berryessa, two young women saw a man in scuba suit, with curly hair roaming the park an hour before the couple was stabbed. Yet, the teenagers that saw the assailant getting out of Stein's cab, gave a description very different from the women at the Lake Berryessa. Now, after watching this ...I believe Allen was working with Kane. Smh

I have to say that part 6 is my favorite of the series and I don't think I can dispute much of your conclusion of what happened. So many crazy details to tie together with these events. Just a side point, I can't help but notice how many faces L. Kane seems to have. It seems like every photo of him looks different. It also baffles me how two strangers can meet like that, have the same level of crazy, and be able to trust each other like that....but I don't have much doubt that it happened that way. Allen and Allen's brother were the Zodiac killer(s) ....because there are no secrets between brothers!!! And when the police first asked Allen's brother about - what do you know about the Zodiac killer? Could Allen, your brother, be the Zodiac killer? He was sitting in the living room next to his wife and immediately said --> nothing! But, during the answer, he looked down (at the ground). He didn't tell the truth and participated in at least 2 murders or carried them out alone without Allen (and of course, he told his brother what and how he carried them out). That's why Allen mentioned 7 things in his first interrogation, maybe how he would do it himself, but it's very likely that he wasn't there!!

I guarantee you the Zodiac Killer had a military background. Remember there were many military installations in the Bay Area at the time: Travis AFB, Mare Island Naval Shipyard, NAS Alameda, Naval Station Treasure Island, Hunters Point Naval Shipyard. The killer was either military or ex-military. Maybe he transferred to another base or was deployed to Vietnam and the killings stopped. That period was also the height of the Vietnam War.

Congratulations. I was looking into the Zodiac case and mystery. I discarded all the letters to look into only the facts and evidence in all cases. I concluded that there were two killers and that they had to have worked together. I also concluded the two suspects in my own opinion were Arthur Leigh Allen and Lawrence Kane myself. I also went by both composite drawings. There was a totally different composite of the Zodiac at the Lake Veresa murder. It looks like Arthur Leigh Allen and was given by other eyewitness accounts that were at the lake. I think they both were looking for chance of opportunity and that Arthur was seen by the eyewitness and Kane was the one who did the killing. Arthur was pulled over by a police officer that day and was questioned about the bloody knives. I agree it had to be two killers and that one made the phone calls and the other wrote the letters. Good theory and so far the most logical one until actual forensics evidence comes forward.

It makes sense that the murders were not the work of one individual. The fact the investigations were bundled together from CJB to Stine as the work of one author made advancements impossible in this case. Namely because the killer's description kept shifting with the numerous witness accounts the police received. Especially in what relates to his weight and height. That's what happens when you're looking for a "one and the same" denominator, when in fact you should be looking at more than one suspect. The Lake Berryessa event screams Arthur Leigh Allen, provided he used a wig, and gives a hint about CJB not being his work. Stine on the other hand, does not seem to be ALA and more like Lawrence Kane. Whether they knew one another before the murders, or were the murders and ciphers a way of communicating/acknowledging one another, is a good question to explore.

I hate to burst your bubble, Forrest Haggerty, but both Allen and Kane's DNA were tested against the bloody finger print left at the cab and stamp saliva, and both returned negative. Neither were Zodiac. I only learned recently that Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen were not singled out and targeted. Apparently Zodiac chased someone before those two and failed. So, that would make him an oppoturnistic killer. I think the key is Kathleen Johns. She saw him clearly. Did she even give a composite sketch or point anybody out? Her involvement is miniscule. Why didn't she speak more? Every current suspect on the table is not the Zodiac. When it all boils down, we'll never truly know who he was. And he got away with it. This will frustrate people to their graves - the not knowing part.

I'm not sure Don Chaney told the truth let me tell you something don Chaney looks more like the zodiac than Arthur Leigh Allen. No one describe the zodiac that will fit Arthur Leigh Allen which would be a balding 260 lb man that's the description was a flat top with glasses, about 160 to 170 lb with a pot belly and about 5 ft 8 to 5 ft 10. Too short for Arthur Leigh Allen and too tall for Lawrence Kane. To describe Arthur Leigh Allen they would have to say a balding blimp.

Lake Herman Rd was the incident suggesting two suspects driving around and working together. The other killings seem to indicate a lone killer, but that doesn't eliminate them planning together. Sounds like Allen was more the letter writer, originator of Zodiac killings, while Kane acted as the primary killer. Who knows maybe they took turns... very interesting theory nonetheless!

This has been a very interesting account. Accurate and to the point. I would agree with the Author that there is more than one suspect involved. Had the dispatch not said a Black male suspect. Then the two Officers would have had the best opportunity to see the suspect up close and maybe even hands on.

Bryan Calvin Hartnell said that the zodiac had a slight stutter and Lawrence Kane had a slight stutter because of a head injury but on the phone calls the zodiac had no stutter just a deep monotone

At 33:40 it shows the ALA writing sample. What i find interesting is when he writes santa Rosa avenue. The s is backwards and looks like a z. Much like how in the zodiac letters, there are a bunch of backwards letters.
