So here's my idea: The fake Nezuko knew the real nezuko and zenitsu were going on vacation and used this as an opening to be the "real" Nezuko so she could be close to Tanjiro. Meanwhile the fake Zenitsu knew the same thing and used this to be the "real" Zenitsu since they wanted to kill Nezuko. Fake Zenitsu killed off Nezuko after getting rejected and then Tanjiro killed fake zenitsu. The real Zenitsu and Nezuko came home from vacay unaware of anything until Tanjiro explains everything

Or the fake zenitsu wanted to kill Nezuko so he disguised as Zenitsu knowing he was going on a vacation, but he didn't know that Nezuko was going too, so i think the fake Nezuko is a simple illusion created by the original Nezuko (the one who went on vacation) cuz Nezuko was afraid that something happens to tanjiro while she inst there, fake Zenitsu killed fake Nezuko, the two real versions came back and Nezuko COMPLETELY forgot about the clone It's the most logical theory lmao
