Many of the small items within a museum collection can have a interesting history that without the context is oft forgotten.

Fantastic video! And to answer the question question. The Flying Scotsman at 5:51 has a 4-6-4 wheel arrangement instead of a 4-6-2 one, and her number is incorrect. The number 4476 was giving to Flying Scotsman slightly younger sister (built in the same batch as Scotsman in 1923), her name being 'Royal Lancer.'

Wow! That truly is a fascinating part of the railways I never knew about. There certainly is a 'Mate ship' between railway workers where ever you go in the world.

Very insightful video - I'd never even heard of the railway queens before, let alone realise how important their role was. The video was very much appreciated, and I'll certainly be interested in seeing more!

Thank you Oli for presenting this fascinating story. I well remember the crowning at Belle Vue but had no idea about the Queen's later duties and especially the international connections.

My Grandma was Mabel Kitson, the second Railway Queen. Thank you so much for such an interesting insight into her life. Coincidentally my Dad and I are visiting the museum tomorrow for the Flying Scotsman VR experience. I will try and touch base with your researchers.

Brilliant episode, aren't they all. First class to my home town tomorrow, to have a pint, meet my mum, see a band do a test gig, with my railway engineer partner. Then home by a different route, in first class with Tarka Dal. Me, just an MIRSE.

I think that's supposed to be LNER 4476 Royal Lancer, not Flying Scotsman. Weird they chose to represent the A1 as a 4-6-4.

5:52, well, they had to modify it to hold the cake up. cakes dont have the same structural integrity as steel machinery.

5:55 Flying Scotsman has the wrong number of 4476 (who is called Royal Lancer) rather than 4472 as well as being a Baltic [4-6-4] wheel arrangement rather than a Pacific one [4-6-2].
