Chelsea went big in January to speed up the process of a pre-season. Gives Potter the opportunity to build a squad with most of the squad that’s gonna be here. Balancing the number of players is the key now though, and more players should have been loaned at the very least.

Agree. As I say they’ve secured top players but I think they’ve over spent and I’m not convinced they will all work out. They’ve also left themselves with a very heavy squad. We shall see!

@@SpencerFC Chelsea will have a clearout in the summer, one that has been needed for some time too. And the media are making the prices seem far higher than they actually are, only way chelsea are paying 88 for Mudryk is if they win PL or UCL, for example. Chelsea have done a fantastic job by covering up most of the holes in their squad this month, leaving only a few transfers to be desired in the summer, instead of having to do a ton of transfers then. Don't get how so many can call this buying without a plan.

this chelsea squad has needed a complete overhaul for yeaaaaaaars now and instead of doing it over the course of 3-4 seasons boehly and co have decided to get it done in 1-2. unless the vast majority of these players flop (which no one can know can say either way at this point) this has been nothing short of the greatest january transfer window of all time

Chelsea and Wolves should be double decent. Chelsea signed quality players all round. And Wolves have addressed issues they needed to - got another centre back and GK with experience and leadership. Also made quality singings in Cunha and Sarabia for 4.4m is an unreal signing. And Lemina adds bodies in midfield with prem experience and Joao Gomes is a highly thought of youngster for only 15m. Your points throughout the video was ‘have they improved’ and wolves have most definitely done that - more than most teams yet weren’t in top tier?

Wolves decent is fair tbh. I like Dawson but there may be a reason hes been playing as much as last season and they sold him, not convinced Sarabia isn't suited to the prem, Cunha seems like hes a flop transfer waiting to happen 20 league goals in the Bundesliga & La Liga combined in like 115 games. Gomes unproven youngster could hit the ground running or needs time. Lemina was pretty average at Southampton. They've obviously improved their squad bringing some new players in but I'd be doubtful they're all gonna work out.

Nottingham Forrest have had 2 very good windows. Summer: What sticks out are the many transfers of course, but they basically had no one on their payroll. They came up from the Championship with half their squad as loan players. So they went big in numbers and not big on money so that they could have a 25 man squad without having loaned anyone. Winter: This time around it wasnt about the number of players, but about the quality of these players. They regained some form, and with additions of quality they might even stay up. Future windows will look very much like this winter window. Adding quality and not quantity, because they no longer have to.

Everyone is sleeping on Bournemouth’s window. Dango Outtara might be one of the best signings of the window, 11G+A in the first half of the season with Lorient. Joined Bournemouth less than a week before the forest game, with only one training session before playing the full 90mins in his debut. He picked up a crucial assist and man of the match, making the difference in Bournemouth’s first Draw/Win in the past 7 games

Only player I can see the argument of overpaying for is Enzo and I think that case is slightly unique as if chelsea wait till the summer I don't think they get the player, he probably goes elsewhere.

The reason why todd bohley went big in January is so he can avoid rules In the summer... Chelsea have been buying young up and coming talent on very long contracts e.g 7, 8 , 9 years deals which is nuts😱 However this is because due to the rules "as things stands" if you buy someone due to ffp rulings it's the money you spent on the player then divided by the years you have him on contract for. So for instants Fernandez was brought to Chelsea for £106 million divide that by 8 years it only equates by £13.25 million every year. Todd bohley is an incredibly intelligent man and in my opinion this is incredibly smart. This will also see Chelsea be in profit potentially by the end of the season which I just find insane when you think of the amount of money they spent🤷‍♀️ However in the summer the rules will change and you will only be able to give a player a contract of up to 5 years. So he was trying to sign everyone he can now before the law changed 🤷‍♀️ in my opinion think its actually quite clever 🤷‍♀️

In terms of squad improvement it’s not even close really. It’s Chelsea and there’s no need to overcomplicate that. They’ve done business that they no longer need to do in the summer. Enzo is a player especially they’ve needed for years.

Instead of Chelsea spending over a couple years, they did it in one window. It’s absolutely double decent, it proves Spencer just hates Chelsea.
