Maybe Kutchie started off trying to plan for a comeback, but then started to deteriorate mentally. I'm no psychologist, but he was in his 90's when he died, making it very possible he was suffering from dementia or late-stage Alzheimer's. My wife used to work at an old folks home where many of the residents had dementia. Many days they barely knew where they were, who they were, what they were doing, or why they were doing it. The worst case was an bedridden old man who kept trying to play grab-ass with my wife. Apparently he thought she was his long-dead wife, because they had the same color eyes. One day my wife had the day off and the dude flipped out, demanding to know where his wife was and why she hadn't come to see him. He had to be physically restrained by the staff and afterward he just laid there in bed, crying and calling his wife's name. Heartbreaking, really.

If the Oswald Sr. theory is correct, and he was trying to start a pie-selling business, the lewdness and adult references would actually begin to make more sense. I remember around the dawn of social media, a really cheap and spammy way to promote yourself was to throw sexually provocative keywords into whatever page you were trying to get seen, on the theory that so many people would be performing searches with those terms that you'd be bound to get clicks. It was never really a viable strategy to get people to care about your business, but it would fit in well with those equally spammy MLM posts.
@discriminate4 жыл бұрын
Yeah. This just seems like SEO keywording to increase search results. With the references to sex, famous actors, etc., it seems that it’s just an advertising scheme to put as many keywords in as little space as possible.
@fallingpetunias90464 жыл бұрын
Oh, how the times have changed. Word-salads used to just be sex and foul language, but they've definitely spread out since then. Now every product is a jumbled to the point of filters being useless and kid's videos are just a list of pop culture and body parts.
@discriminate4 жыл бұрын
@Real Human Bean Search Engine Optimization. Think of it this way. I own a restaurant, so I’m gonna fill my webpage is with the word “burgers”. That way, when people Google “burgers”, my restaurant will show. This method of using popular phrases (actors, sex, etc) seems to be an attempt to get their website to show to as many people as possible.
@lyndseybroussard96084 жыл бұрын
I don't think the poster creating lewd posts is Oswald Sr. or Jr. I think when Oswald was posting about the MLM he got someone in on it and when the Numis company shut down they lost their money or something else they would consider valuable (reputation, credibility, etc.). As an act of revenge, this third person created posts ruining the image of Oswald and Kutchie. This would result in Oswald feeling the lost the third person had felt. Yes, Oswald could have created those posts as it does go along the same grain as his former spammy posts; however, I don't find it plausible as it doesn't follow the theme of his other posts. It also lowers the chance of Kutchies or another Pie business being successful.

One thing I absolutely love about these channels, is 1) the commitment to NOT resort to covering cringe ARG clickbait nonsense (something that pretty much every "spooky story channel" falls into these days), and 2) doing more research than anyone else that covers the same topic. In a media space that's getting more crowded every year, you have done an incredible job setting yourself apart.

There is no bigger ball buster than watching a video about unsolved mysteries only to find it was an arg. Some of them being an hour long. It's so fucking frustrating. They really need to start putting ARG in the title so I know when I can pass. I like the mysteries that are real, finding out it was just a game makes it trite. Nothing against the ARG community, all the power to them, I think the concept is cool. But I don't play them, and I want the content makers to be upfront about it.

@efficiencygaming34944 жыл бұрын
I've looked through the evidence and found some interesting things. I compared the posts about the Key Lime Pie to some of Kutchie's other posts to see if I could find any similarities in word structure and phrasing. I noticed that he always spells it "web-site" with a hyphen, uses lots of superlatives and hyperbole, and uses capitalization in weird places. Also, if you look at the blog post at 7:49, it's written in exactly the same style as the KLP posts. The fact that you mentioned the idea that he was trying to raise money to start a new business got me thinking about whether that MLM scheme he was promoting was a way of doing just that. If he lost all his money once that scheme crashed and burned, it would make perfect sense to for him to start making crazy blog posts again. Anyway, I've always been fascinated by this story, and this video was nice to watch. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one!

Great investigation as ever. It was 100% just the store owner trying to buff business, and we all know older men can be pervy as fuck in their descriptions as it was normal in their day. Im actually shocked this is even such a "mystery", it seems pretty obvious honestly.

"Im going to assume you guys don't know the story" good because I found this video out of nowhere (ty algorithm) now you have me sold on the pie mystery

Ive seen this covered a few times now but everyone overlooks one thing: Who made the discovery? like who made the initial post bringing this to the publics attention? Like who just sits on food reviews all day and happens to notice random people talking about a common pie and goes THEY NEVER HAD PIE or whatever. Point being, I bet on my life whoever was the initial poster describing this conspiracy is the one whos making the posts. It wouldnt be the first time a content creator started their own fire.

i think that it is ‘kutchie’ and his wife/family going through reviewing on every website to try and have someone approach him to invest in him to help him start a new business/restart his old one. because he wasn’t getting any attention he started to go crazy and start posting vulgar comments because he was tired of not being noticed and this made him start getting noticed through something like this

That guy has a really bizarre way of typing, such as hyphenating the word 'maybe' and capitalizing every word. Ppl like that never seem to be in their right mind.

I saw this story when the channel Eudoxia Mysteries covered it a little while ago. The rambling reminded me of someone with dementia or some form of old-age online nonsensical bullshit.

Late asf but the hypersexual comments really are what led me to think it was an older man succumbing to dementia, as they tend to become hypersexual and/or just lose the filter most tend to have. Like you said it could just be him being old and not necessarily dementia but im surprised more people don't theorize that

Watching your video, I was thinking maybe this "Key Lime Pie" (who never existed) was a password for "colombian marching powder", and the writer was just trying to blackmail them by associating their name, restaurant and this KLP... But I'm probably going way to fare. Your explanation sound more realistic. And yes, for sure the reviews are heavily using SEO: always the same keywords (more than once) in a middle of a non sens posts. Google algo can't feel the difference between a real and troll message. But for sure it is sensitive to keywords.

As a person who lives a town over from Asheville and been there many times.. I've never heard of this pie factory, nobody has ever talked about it before that I've heard of. That's completely bizarre..

I grew up going to Kutchies. All I can say for sure that I remember, is that the owner was always a bit odd. A very nice gentleman, indeed, however seeming kind of conflicted, and kind of like he wanted to be doing more. This was about 2002-2005. When they shut down, we tried going to the restaurant that took its place, but it wasn’t nearly as good. That’s all I can offer haha

How did you fail to mention how incredibly weird Asheville is?? I feel like that is so important to this whole conversation. Actually how has no one mentioned this?

@@motorphina i’m from asheville and i can confirm. somehow i’ve never heard of the whole kutchies situation before, which is odd considering how it seems to be one of asheville’s most well known mysteries

Kutch Was Such A Drag. For The Last 40 Years He'd Cook The Same Kind Of Burgers, Dress The Same, Sell The Same World Famous Key Lime Pies......Yeah, He Was Just 'One Wild And Crazy Guy!' But Then One Day, Captain Kutchie Palaez Goes And Starts An Online Business To Sell His Key Lime Pies Country Wide! He Couldn't Even Be Original About The Way He Did It. I'm Not Complaining... I Was Dying To Get A Taste Of Those World Famous Key Lime Pies Anyway!.."YUM-YUM-YUM"..... ...But Guess What? I Will Be Coming Back To Kutcharitaville.....And I'm Bringing My Appetite With Me.

Thank you for your more sobering (yet still interesting) videos on "mysteries," despite the demand for sensationalism. Too many channels lean into the fear mongering, sending lots of less discerning viewers into deeper anxiety- as clearly shown in the comments sections of said channels.
