You sir, make genius out of simplicity, coherence of out confusion, and bring your audience to a beautiful river where those who choose to drink may drink, those who want to touch it may bathe, and those who are daring may cross to the other side and find a better place. Thank you Dr. Davis, and I hope I find more of your content.

How is Jesus' death the most imprtant moment in the history of the world, but there is no actual record of when he died???? No one knows WHEN this was?? This raises SERIOUS doubts in my mind...

Book of Daniel, chapter 9:25, 26 specifically. You'll have to check around. The date of the following passage apparently is well known among Bible scholars and Bible teachers. "....from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks." Written in Hebrew language. Weeks in this passage are actually 7's, as I understand it, actually 7 years. So 69 sevens is 483 years. 9:26 "And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself..." There has been a gap, nearly 2,000 years, between that 69th week when the "Messiah (Jesus) was cut off" and the upcoming 70th week, the final 7 year period in the near future. A gap that is actually for those other than the Jewish people, the gentiles to come in. When the full number of gentiles come in, then God's plan is nearly fulfilled. God only knows how many billions of people have lived on this Earth He created. Jesus crucified on the cross 483 years from the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem is the answer. Years in that language around 2,500 years ago... Months were 30 day months, etc. Chuck Missler discussed this in his video(s) on Daniel. Look it up on KZbin. You will find it if you want to. I would bet Dr. Michael Brown, a Messianic Jew and excellent Bible teacher, probably has this on his KZbin channel and website as well. Look him up. They have the date pretty darned close. But you have to search for it. It's not hard. Would be nice if it was wrapped up in a nice neat bow but for whatever reasons apparently God didn't want to make it that easy to get to. And yet billions have believed and not known the exact day anyway.

No one knows that exact time and day our creator spoke light into existence but it happened. That's the most important thing. That one believes and is saved. The same is true with the death of Christ Jesus.

Here's the problem Mike (great lecture BTW); even if you had the original texts; knew the authors and their bios; had no contradictions, errors, forgeries or politics; didn't burn people and destroy other texts - PEOPLE DONT WALK ON WATER - no one comes back from the dead, there are no angels and demons, talking snakes or withering fig trees - the entire OT and NT can be discounted by simple common sense - no PhD required. Christians (I used to be one) are good people who are simply lost in the mysteries of the past. If there is a thing called objective truth it does not involve slavery, drowning everyone in a flood or the slaughter of innocent people. The whole concept of god fails, so who needs to argue about the finer points of Mark and Luke. These people are missing the point. Read Bertrand Russel. I have no need of this (god) hypothesis personally, to live a happy an d moral life. In fact, all of these antiquated primitive stories only muddy the waters. Having said that, your presentation was excellent. I watched it twice. Thank-you.

I'm confused! Did this guy say he was a life long Christian? What does he base this belief on given this confusing lecture? Not sure I understand the argument that since the gospels are so similar that they must have copied Mark. If it is divinely inspired and true telling the same story, wouldn't it be similar? Confused

William F. Albright wrote, 'We can already say emphatically that there is no long any basis for dating any book of the New Testament after about AD 80, two full generations before the date between 130 and 150 given by the more radical New Testament critics of today.' (Recent Discoveries in Bible Lands, 136). Elsewhere Albright said, 'In my opinion, every book of the New Testament was written by a baptized Jew between the forties and eighties of the first century (very probably sometime between about AD 50 and 75)' ('Towards a More Conservative View,' 3).

I am an atheist but loving this. Thanks very much, I've learned a lot. The historical facts are amazing. Its an incredible and important story. It always baffles me when a speaker starts off by announcing Christian faith, then proceeds to unquestionably submit to the secularisation of Scripture. The only reason for the late dating of the Gospels, is the idea that Jesus could not possibly have prophecied the sacking of Jerusalem, therefore the Gospels must have been written after 70 AD. Why would a Christian submit to that? St Paul does refer to the Gospel traditons. It is possible that the Synoptic Gospels have a source in common, but it is not the only possibility, nor - for my money - the most coherent one. It is simply the suggestion that sits most comfortably with secularism. If this document existed, and was of such importance that it is the source for three of the four canonical Gospels, where is it? No whisper, no trace, no mention by the Church Fathers, what happened? Is it not more likely that the sayings of Jesus were kept among the apostles and served as oral liturgies for the early churches? It is too typical to even be interesting that he gives authority to ideas that came from German literary criticism of the 19th Century when dealing with the Gospels, but then favours an uncritical stance on the Indian tradition. As for the Portuguese destroying the supposed Gospel of Thomas when they discovered it in India - where on Earth is that coming from? There is a very old Thomasine tradition in India, but it has nothing to do with the Gospel of Thomas and no serious scholar attributes that work to the apostle. There is absolutely no record of Church Fathers destroying accounts of Jesus. Athanasius wrote a letter on canonical text in which the bishop specifically dismisses a text known as the Assumption of Mary. This letter is the basis for all sorts of Dan Brownesque nonsense about church conspiracy to invent Jesus and cover up the original truth. Very poor talk.

Second issue is Christianity is not a faith ! It is a man made religion ! Religion separates us from GOD ,and from each other. Also Religion is a belief in more than one God. Religions claim that Jesus was God in the flesh , Wrong ! Jesus was just a man . Hashem our GOD is spirit ,he is not a person ,he is not a Man. Therefore spirituality is what HASHEM OUR GOD. wants us to be . Being spiritual is a faith in only one GOD . The same GOD that the dead prophet yeshua allegedly prayed to. Yeshua never claimed to be god in the flesh, or the only begotten son of god ,nor did he ever claim to be the Massiach. It was the disciples that claimed everything.

Issue number 4, The book of Matthew was incorrect when you reach the part of Jesus's genealogy. Matthew claims the yeshua was of the genealogy of King David ... wrong !Yosef was his stepfather and not his real biological father. He was Mary's son from another Man.That in itself tells you that yeshua was not the Massiach. Even Luke contradicts Matthew.

First wrong issue ,the new testament is a book of testimonies, of men who were followers of the dead prophet yeshua, aka jesus. It is not a bible,Bible,? Because it was not inspired of GOD ,but of men. Torah ,the holy word of Hashem our GOD told us not to add or take away anything from his holy scriptures.

This lawyer should have stuck with his specialty, painful regurgitation of bad German theology in the last 3 centuries, completely ignorant of the refined underlying structure of particularly the gospel of Matthew which indicates that it is the likely root text, not Mark. Wish I had an autograph, but perhaps one should give up on the silly idea that Yeshua spoke Aramaic in the Temple courts. There’s an old saying goes something like this “ the translator is a traitor to the truth”, without a proper understanding of the times (the Biblical Calendar) and the common idioms or thought patterns of the Hebrew Scriptures to which Yeshua constantly referenced you have no context.

This is a gross over simplification of an enormously complex subject with a variety of complicated components that include language, archeology, history, theology, religion, sociology, psychology, culture, textual criticism, belief, philosophy and power that span over 5000 years and includes a variety of civilizations. Dr. Bart Ehrmann, Dr. Dale B. Martin and Dr. Christine Hayes are 3 of several people who are experts in this field who absolutely deserve the attention of anyone trying to learn about this subject and have courses for free online. Dr. Davis you should probably stick to your area of law expertise and be a lot more careful with the intellectual looseness displayed in this video…with all due respect Sir.

The Great Creator of all existence is Science it is Not Religion Only the Honest Will Understand the Truth. The Great Creator, Matter, Knowledge, Energy, Time and Space Has Always Existed. All Without Beginning or end. Beginning and End only reveals an absence. There Are a Great Many Gods, That have been and are being worshiped. Gods are just imaginary Mythical personages of worship, Gods are not Creators. And do realize that Creation is only the rearrangement of Mater. As, Matter does not evolve from nothing. Truth is All That Truly Exists. Other Than Truth there is Just The understood Concept of An Absence. Lies with intent to deceive or not is fantasy. Lies remain in the nonexistent realm. There is hard core evidence That all life was with intelligent design. It starts with the intelligent design of the Universe. First: With the precise accuracy of the Rotation of the Earth and the orbit at the proper distance around the sun for life to be possible on Earth. then the Tilt of the earth for the seasons. and the moon's orbit that controls the tide of the ocean. It would be very difficult to prove that is not Intelligent Design. The Creation of the Universe is all far beyond what is thought to be human intelligence. However Knowledge is not created in the brain of the Human. The brain was only intelligently designed to Understand Knowledge. As for Evolution, there is much evidence and It is very likely that evolution is one of the intelligent possesses of Creation. Evolution was just intelligently guided in the possesses of Creation. Words to the Honest and Wise: Honesty and understanding is the only true belief. Without honesty and understanding we do not know what to believe. To accept other’s opinion of the truth without proving it to yourself; it is being deceived it is not believing. We must understand to believe. Truth will solve all our problems before we create them; and ignore or reject the truth; problems will multiply all by themselves; those problems will need no help. Have a great and a meaningful life if it is at all possible. Just whispers, of the Ghost of Reality.
