Dany says: "It's about missing someone and the energy this person gives you. You're drawn into their gravitational pull and brightness - like an automatic sun." The video was put together in one week. They shot it at Tecate Pa’l Norte in Monterrey on March 31st. The video team is led by Beto Ramos, Pau’s drum teacher, and Iván Chávez, recent graduate of the University of Monterrey film school. The team they lead is top notch. Their first major TW video was the Metropolitan concert. Dan Lancaster is listed in the credits as a co-producer of the song, a lyrics contributor and providing keyboards. Dan was a touring keyboardist for Muse.

That is one of the characteristics of TW, they play just what is necessary to create pieces of art. With its structure, its breaks, transitions, rhythm changes, modulations, choruses, pre-choruses, drum attacks, its endings… The great beauty of their art is in its simplicity but all this always seems to be at the right time and in the right way, bordering on perfection and predominating sophistication. Each of its pieces can be very different, but always with all the TW flavor. It’s very clear that these sisters have no limits. They have that gift that only belongs to the geniuses that appear among us every certain long period of time. They are the queens of the hook, the riff, the contagious rhythms, the catchy melodies, the sublime vocals, the unbeatable harmonies and the ambiguous but deep and powerful messages. And this happens song after song... INCREDIBLE!! The new rock masters: The Warning. Thanks and greetings from México!! 🇲🇽 🤘😁✌️

@@davesheville2023 I find this counterpoint fascinating. For some reason, a vote by fans that are likely interested in drumming if not enthusiasts themselves is somewhat a lesser recognition? Would a voting by so called “drumming experts” be more fair and unbiased? Who could say for sure? Secondly, didn’t all the other drummers have fans too? And, likely, don’t a number of them have massively larger fan bases to draw on? Thirdly, who largely determines all-stars in sports leagues, the Billboard Hot 100, the top KZbin creators, the best places to eat, the best movies to watch..the best music bands? Some arbitrary, often not unbiased, select expert group, or the actual consumers? Lastly, and to me the biggest question: what defines “best drummer”? Virtuosity, speed, technical expertise alone? Or does the level of impact a drummer has on the overall performance matter as well, if not more? Is it just confined to the physical technique or include other performance aspects such as stage presence, energy, singing and songwriting? For me, when it comes to artistic value and performance, I would rather trust the judgment of myself and other fans rather than appointed “experts”.
@davesheville20238 ай бұрын
@@RipThru Trying to keep it shortish: 1) a fan vote is great, no problem with that. It’s just when they flood a voting opportunity and then start claiming that their favourite drummer is actually a better player than the others, it’s ridiculous and actually an insult to some very high class drummers. A panel of drummers voting would have had very different results 2) sure they have fans, but probably not the types who get caught up in hype. Their fan bases weren’t going around to their videos and telling everyone to vote. 3) determining a highly skilled drummer versus an average drummer takes people who actually know what they are talking about. If the general public are voting, then it’s really about their “favourite” and shouldn’t be confused with “best” . 4) there is no “best” drummer. There are so many fantastic players who possess all the attributes from technical skill, writing skills, performance skills etc. And many of them are so different that it’s pointless comparing them. Having said that, there are drummers that are simply better than others who cover everything and more that another drummer can. Paulina simply isn’t in the same league as many others. Does that mean she’s a bad drummer? Of course not. But the idea that she’s a better drummer than someone like Josh Freese who has had the type of career that many would kill to have, and he’s been doing it longer than Paulina has been alive, is absurd. One of my all time favourite drummers is Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil - his energy and vocals are amazing and he’s a decent guitarist, a great songwriter and lyricist. Is he one of the “best drummers in the world?” No. And as a drummer myself, it would be crazy to claim that he was. Unfortunately many people are blinded by all the hype and make ridiculous claims. You can bet Paulina wouldn’t think she was one of the “best drummers” going around, and that’s because she would actually know a lot about it.

I'm almost 50 years old and I've listened to and seen many historical bands in concert, but none of them has ever fascinated me as much as the Villareal sisters. Their history, the genuine and gentle ways, the energy they bring to the stage, their vocal, instrumental and writing skills, the loving and constant interaction with fans, all these factors put together make them, in my humble opinion, something never seen before. In Milan there were people of all ages, also some kids having a blast (one just behind me with parents), this made me realise that 'our' girls are already beyond the niche of fans, they're rewriting music history, I'm absolutely convinced of that. I think it was Miles Davis who said - why play more notes when 3 is sufficient. I maybe wrong though. Listeners nowadays have forgotten that to not play an extra note is as important in musicality of a song. Had Ale gone on a bass run during her mono note breakdown in the middle, all effect of contrast & effort to involve the crowd would have been lost. There were so many instances where Pau could have opted for extra touches on her kit. But she didn't; knowing fully well that would have distracted listeners. Probably from the mid 80s, instrumentation got prioritized over lyrics. Songs became a showpiece of ego fueled solos that had no bearing with the lyrics. And people thought that epitomized technical skill. No wonder rock got unpopular. Decades ago Kenny Rogers famously sang - "You've got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away, know when to run". Similarly to perfectly judge the exact amount of instrumentation in a song is the most coveted skill in songwriting. The Beatles had it in spades. So do The Warning. After a long time in rock a band is saying something substantial through their insightful lyrics. After a long time a rock group has brought back the balance between words & instrumentation in a song. Recently McCartney was queried about the secret to his legendary success. He said "I kept it simple". Less is more as a philosophy has been defenestrated in today's scenario of show over substance. Thankfully The Warning are bringing it back through their subtle & intelligent songwriting. We should never forget that there is beauty in simplicity too.

A little info about them… They are 3 sisters from Monterrey, Mexico. They fell in love with rock music when their parents bought them the video game “Rock-band”. That’s how everything started. The band just celebrated their 10th year anniversary. - 👩🏼 Daniela (Dany) Guitar and lead vocals. She is 24 years old. She plays piano and saxophone 🎷. She is sponsored by PRS. She loves donuts 🍩. Her main hobby is diamond painting 🖼️. She just started a collection of pictures of herself next to fire extinguishers🧯 from all over the world. She is a sweetheart, very loving girl and disciplined. She has the best voice for rock music in the industry today. Only Lzzy Hale can compete with Dany. On tour she always has to have fresh fruit. 🍉 🍎 🍊 - 🧑🏻🦰 Paulina (Pau) Drums and vocals. She is 22 years old. She is sponsored by Sabian. She won best rock drummer of the year 2023. (Drumeo award) She plays piano. 🎹 She collects Anime and Vinyls. She writes almost all the lyrics for the band. She is a genius firecracker 🧨 She is an amazing drummer and she can sing while she plays, very difficult thing to do. She has a tremendous voice that transmits a lot of emotion. She is the lead singer in many of their songs. NEVER tell her in the “meet and greets” that she is short person, she’ll get mad. She is going to make you cry when she sings the song “black holes”. Prepare the tissues 😢. - 👧🏻 Alejandra (Ale) Bass and Vocals. She is sponsored by Spector. She plays piano 🎹. This girl is the youngest (19) but she is the tallest. Ale is a tremendous bass player, she is a clean, clear and consistent player. She sings well but she doesn’t like to sing. She prefers the backing vocals. She loves Takis chips (fire). NEVER put pineapple in her pizza 🍕, she will get mad. She is very reserved, but very smart!. When things are going out of control in the band, she is the voice of reason. She has super strength powers, she can break an apple with her little bare hands 🍏💪🏻.

Great reaction, you hit the nail in the head in that TW will play only what is needed for a song. So far they have never overplayed their instruments in any song, they are not about that.

These ladies are the most natural rock stars I think I've ever seen. When you really get a grasp of the scope of their catalogue it's shocking... And they are 24, 22, and 19. they are really just getting started. We are watching legends in the making. The great thing about them is that their stuff is all so unique from one song to the next yet they all sound like The Warning. LAS WAWAS IN THE HOUSE!!!
@jcparker5008 ай бұрын
Pretty wild seeing where they started to where they are now, huh? That's why so many people say that they feel proud of them. I think you would enjoy watching "Dust to Dust" live from the 2022 Teatro concert. Pau (the drummer) sings lead in that one and it is amazing watching her breath control singing while she is doing drum fills.
@tay136668 ай бұрын
You hit the nail on the head. They do exactly what the song needs and no more. They aren't about flash for flash sake. Pau said the hardest thing about performing this song was slowing her fills down. She kept wanting to play them too fast. Since she got the timing down, she says this is her current favorite to play live. I suggest you do Hell You Call A Dream live from the Pepsi Center to get another listen to how they sound now. That also has a ton of drum-cam footage. Then go back and see how they got here from there. There are tons of official live videos on their channel. Also, if interested they did gear run downs last year. Each one is a separate video on Digital Tour Bus. That will show you what they play, and they explain why. It also gives you a great insight to each one's personality.

I wouldn't quite say a "stark" difference between their viral 'Sandman' video and latest release, but you can see the maturity for sure.

You being a drummer, you should check out dust to dust or 23 from teatro metropolitan Also their best stuff is always live and they have a good production behind the scenes, they have pro shot many concerts
@TerryParsons17248 ай бұрын
Teatro Metropolitan Disciple where the drummer shares lead vocals or Dust to Dust where she sings solo lead. Both are bangers in front of 3000+ fans pro shot video the whole concert is epic. Great reaction thank you. 🔥⚡

That is one heck of a jump, from The Warning's beginnings to their very latest! I do like the description of Nirvana + Muse, although the drop A tuning reminds some of us of Korn a bit - and I love it! If you want to jump back to The Warning's earliest days AND live concert - check out their school concert (Liceo) and specifically Free Falling, the first song that all 3 sisters wrote together. Or check out their TEDx talks in 2016 and/or 2017 for early days, live. Or if you want a recent, incredible, live performance then Evolve at the MTV VMAs is top notch in every category. If you want to be stunned then I recommend The Warning's Dust to Dust, you'll know why within 15 seconds....

Such a great story! I await your discovery of Pau (the drummer) taking lead vocals and/or sitting at a piano. She's a total performer. Muse asked The Warning to open for them while in Mexico last year and there are great stories about that. That was followed by Muse asking them to come to the UK to play a few festival shows. Finally, check out 'You've been warned'. It captures them along the way during the growing up process. Love your reactions!

Your the first reactor to mention the play above the fret board, I love the sound it makes. These young ladies are doing exactly what they were born to do.

Gotta check out their collaboration and new cover of Enter Sandman! It is chilling how they change the song and it sounds haunting

Yup. LIVE is next step. ‘Hell You Call a Dream’ live @ Pepsi center, ‘EVOLVE’ live @ 2023 MTV VMAs (‘MORE’ as well) or ANYTHING from Teatro Metroploitan CDMX 2022, Lunario 2018, Foro DiDi 2019, Dakota bar 2018, Whiskey a GoGo…. Well, just ANYTHING live from their channel is fine😂. Hell, fan-cam is fine too if you want, any audio issues is the cams problem not the bands.

Trust me brother, you want to watch Evolve next at MTV VMAs I LOVE THIS BAND !! ✌️💖🎼

Muse are their idols really, and they got the opportunity to open for them in Mexico 4 times and then by invited them to open in UK and Europe 5 times, together with Royal Blood. The very first time they played in that part of the world just happened to be in front of around 40k people. Now they are actually there in their own sold out headline tour playing almost every day, of course in much smaller venues, but people are going crazy.. they are better live as anybody has commented that all the time.

Anything from the Teatro Metropolitan show which you will find both complete concert and individual songs posted on their channel is top shelf.

Their performance of EVOLVE from the MTV Music Awards last year will blow you away.

Hey Teck! Variety is their middle name, and Live Performance is their superpower! But, Amazing Songwriting is their secret weapon! Next, "Hell You Call A Dream" from Pepsi Center "Evolve" from MTV VMAs ANY song from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX show. They don't mediocre, or filler tracks. Just Banger after Banger!

This song is freaking awesome !!!!! I am a new fan, or recrute (Warning Army), but I am already hunting down their physical media to listen over and over again, and yes... I have preordered their newest album to !!!! PS: Pau (Paulina) is one of my favorite drummers right now, her energy and her bright smile is infectious and just bloody adorable ❤. I Have Been Warned 🤘⚡🤘.

It’s funny. I dropped into the comments and realized that @mykemech had just commented basically the same thing I was thinking. I will add that the reason why I believe you should react to their song “Hell You Call a Dream” next is that I think it’s the best song they have released thus far and you can listen to it on your playlist without having to wait while you react to their catalog. Which by the way is all great. I’m enjoying your reactions so cheers and a new sub from West Texas!🇲🇽🇨🇱🤘🏻😎

Hell You Call a Dream live from Pepsi Center CDMX next then suggest Dust to Dust and 23 live from Teatro Metropolitan CDMX to see drummer Pau singing lead while playing! 😎👍

A lot of good suggestions, below. For a good collection of live performance, check out the songs from the 8/29/2022 concert at the Teatro Metropolitan CDMX. Most if not all are available as singles on The Warning channel. Also the complete concert video is chaptered, handy for reviewing individual songs. “More” and “Evolve” performed at the 2023 MTVs are a lot of fun.

I love your reaction. I literally did the same thing to my cousin. We watched the 2015 Enter Sandman vid from TW cave, the 1 that put them on the map, and he was like " Awe, look how cute! And they really did a great job!" And then we watched Automatic Sun...He didn't say a word until it was over. He said "THAT is the same band?! Play it again!" Yep, he's been Warned!

Great reaction. Live performances from latest to oldest (in that order) - recent live performances that are pro shot and with great audio are, a song from their upcoming 2024 album Keep Me Fed, 'Hell You Call a Dream' at the Pepsi Center CDMX and their performances of 'Evolve' and 'More' at the 2023 MTV VMAs. The full live concert at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX 2022. Their second album is a concept album and was performed live for the first time in 2018 at Lunario, also in Mexico City. It's a now legendary concert video amongst The Warning Army. Two other legendary live performances prior were Dakota Bar in Monterrey Mexico where they performed there first album XXI Century Blood in 2017 and then prior to that was their performance at their school, Liceo in 2015 where they performed and recored auditions for their entry to Berklee School of Music 2015 and where they also performed their first original compositions from their EP Escape the Mind at the ages of 10, 13 & 15. The girls each performed audition covers that highlighted each of their instruments Dany, guitarist chose Ozzy's 'Crazy Train', Pau the drummer chose Everlong by the Foo Fighters, Ale the bassist chose 'Hysteria' by Muse.

Yes, you definitely want to them live. Evolve at the VMAs and anything from the Teatro Metropolitan show (I'd start with Disciple, Dust To Dust, Z, or Choke).

Once again . . . Told ya! Their live performances with live sound are so much better than studio or official music videos. TW is one of those “must see live” bands.
