Ancestry.com does a DNA test but you won’t find one that connects you to royalty. You’d probably be better researching or paying somebody to do a family tree for you

The Gosnold family founded the Jamestown Virginia colony in 1607. The Robert born in 1611 was the nephew of one of the founders. Two of his Gosnold cousins were on the council as was his cousin Edward Maria Wingfield, the first president of the colony.

Thomas Cromwell was NOT related to Oliver Cromwell. This isn't made clear in this programme. Thomas Cromwell was Henry 8th's Prime Minister and a completely different family. I agree with you re: Oliver Cromwell, but Thomas was a much better guy.

@@Zebradeen Incorrect. Thomas Cromwell and Oliver Cromwell are related. Oliver Cromwell was directly descended from Thomas Cromwell's sister Katherine. When Katherine married the Cromwell surname was retained. Descent through the female line does not disqualify you from being related.

Acorn Tree the turning point was the Gosnolds being on the losing side after the civil war. Due to fines and reparations the family had to sell everything they had

His ancestor, A rich Gosnold cavalier lost the war. And that new government needed money from the rich royalists who was on the losing side. The royalist was hurt financially. The next generation had to sell the lands and go down in social status as typical commoners.

I'm a direct desendant of Sir John Egerton who was a MP in London, and he was married to Lady Margaret Stanley, who were a prominent family in the Royal Court. Margaret was born abt. 1555 to Sir Rowland Stanley.
