I do these videos because mushroom growers can be real assholes. They think they are better than everyone and talk down to people. I hated that when I started out. I'm glad I've helped so many people. Find my Facebook group Bloo Thumbz. I have a lot of very friendly people on there to help with everything. I'll try to post more videos in the future about substrate.

Elevate the jars enough to keep them from bouncing on the bottom. Jar lids will work or even balled up tinfoil. And yes that pressure cooker will work. Rice doesn't need 15 psi. So I'm sure it will be fine. Fill the water up till it comes a tiny bit above the bottom of the jars. 2 or 3 inches .

In fact I would say 2 minutes is probably better. I don't get what you mean about opening the pressure cooker after turning off the heat. If it was pressurized it would have blew up in you face. They are made to use high heat. There is a valve that lets steam escape so it won't explode. You need to try again man

@@ElevatedFruit it happens. As long as it is mostly unclumped it will be fine. Try banging the jars on a tire. Your first question said it wasn't mushy and that's a good thing. In the future make sure to shake the rice in the strainer to shake of any excess water. You want it damp but you don't want any water pooling in the bottom of the jars.

Yes . Bring water to boil first. Pour in rice and let it return to a boil. Set timer for for minutes. If it starts overflowing you can turn it down a bit. After four minutes pour in a strainer and shake it up bit for a couple minutes. Then it's ready to put in jars for sterilization

I heard brown rice was a fast colonizer and top producer. I found your Tek, and have 3.5qts in the pressure cooker now! If it works as good as they say, it's going to be cheaper that rye berries. Thanks for the info

It's also cleaner. Way more mold spores and contam risk with rye and other things. That's the reason I started using rice in the beginning because you can use it without a PC if you don't have one yet. You can just steam bath the jars and still have success. The most important thing is getting your boil times perfect so your rice doesn't clump. I found that waiting for the water to boil b4 adding the rice and only boil fir 4 minutes is the sweet spot. And also make sure your jars are dry b4 you add the rice or the bottom layer will clump up. Good luck and feel free to ask questions
