Excellent. I wish this description of the plumbing and how it works was done for all machines. Only when one understands the plumbing and how it works can one have a sensible discussion about operating the machine.

The SSR in this model has been known to blow.. likely because it was improperly designed for only the amount of current in the 220v european system. It is in a "hot" ambient location which contributes to it failing, sometimes in a puff of smoke. Because of the potential fire hazard, you'd be best to relocate it to the rear of the unit.. at the very least ensure it has thermal paste underneath it.. HB has many threads on this failure.

Thank you, it is full of excellent details. I have an issue with my machine and hope to help me here :( I feel that the building up pump pressure very slow, it is still 10 bar when check it with blind filter but it take long time to reach. Now While brewing the coffee it almost took the same time over 30 seconds no matter playing with the grinder if it fine or little fine, for example dailing my grinder from 1 to 2. Even if I make a little course than the usual espreeso grind!!

Hi a, You are welcome. Sounds like you have a flow issue elsewhere in the machine or perhaps a pump issue. As you likely know, pressure on the machine gauge is read from a point relatively close to the pump. First place I'd check are parts behind the point where the little tube connects into the system for the pressure gauge. I'd also check your flow rate from the group. When operating properly, this machine should producer a flow rate of ~6-8 grams per second (same as milliters per second) If your in that range you may have a bad gauge. If below that range there's a blockage or faulty pump. Here's a very detailed video on diagnosing and repairing flow issues in the Pro 500: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKLXnWhrlJ1_naM Hope that helps!

hi, thanks for the well explained video. What could be the cause of 2 groups not being able to operate simultaneously? Working ok by separate, but when triggered together, one stops brewing. This is in an MA-C-2GR expobar monroc of 2groups. Thanks.

Thanks for this video. I am curious to know what type of metal the boiler components are made off, especially the surfaces that are in contact with the water being heated to enter the group to make the coffee. If there is aluminum then that would be a no go for me! Is the solder lead free? Also I am not quite sure what the dial on the right is telling me versus the left dial. Should they both be at 12 o'clock? Thanks

Hey guys! Got the profitec 500 pid from you about a year ago, did a backflush and cleaned the tank but now im getting 0 bar of pressure on static and about 3 bar on shots, are my valves clogged or did my pump fail?

Can that vacuum relief valve be replaced with one that allows it to be routed to the drip tray... so it's not venting inside the machine? I know that's a feature of the 600. The 500 seems behind on that feature.
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jimmy, Thanks for the question. There are vacuum relief valves available with a nipple allowing for a hose connection. There's no stock outlet to the drip tray on the 500 but you could put one in. Should mention that very little water is released by the vacuum relief. A very small amount of steam and it spits a few drops right before the valve closes. Given the location of the valver atop the boiler and the internal heat in that area the steam rises out of the machine along with any water which quickly vaporizes. Some manufacturers put an inch or two of open ended hose around the top of the vacuum relief to catch the few spurts of water and hold there until it vaporizes. Marc

My 500 doesn't have the orange light ? Only the Green one. What is the orange light actually for?
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 4 ай бұрын
Hi ff, When on the orange light indicates the machine has water in the reservoir. If off water needs to be added to reservoir. Odd that your Pro 500 does not have the orange lamp. Perhaps a model difference offered in another country. All Pro 500 models available in US going back to initial release in 2014 have the orange lamp indicator.

The only indication I am giving is the PID flashes 115 and finally goes black. Although, I do check the water level every other day. I wished there was a way to over ride the magnet sensor to allow the water that's below the sensor to be used. I wind up dumping it out once a week to prevent the water from going stale.

Thank you for these awesome videos. Your online tutorials are greatly appreciated. Any thoughts as to why my machine doesn't have the hissing sound as of late and does not appear to be heating? The high limit switches are fine. The machine is about 3.5 years old. I have a new heating element and static relay on order. I am hoping it is one of these two. Any input is appreciated!
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 2 жыл бұрын
Hi b, You are welcome for the videos! The static relay is one potential cause. Here's a video showing how to diagnose a static relay and replace if needed: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZ6vlpylaJupg9U

@@Wholelattelovepage I went looking in the machine after this video, and I think I stumbled across the answer. The nut on the autofill sensor was rather loose. I tightened it, and it has been working great since. Perhaps it loosened over time due to the vibratory pump and steam was escaping through there. I have a new heating element and static relay here if needed. Thanks again!

Thanks for the excellent videos. I have followed the instructions in your E61 brew group maintenance video with great results - it is now much smoother to operate. But I wanted to ask a question about the vacuum relief valve. Mine (which is less tall than the one on your machine) has recently started emitting steam continuously when the Pro 500 is at full temperature, leading to a lot of condensation under the top tray. My guess is that I simply need to replace the valve. But I would be grateful for any advice.

Hey thinking about buying this one how is it if I need to make 4 lattes in a row can it handle that and how long would it take
@Wholelattelovepage
@Wholelattelovepage 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Smanatha, Thanks for the question. Yes, the machine can do 4 lattes in a row. How long depends on how big your lattes are. For a typical specialty cafe size of ~6oz/180ml each made form a single shot of espresso you could split a double shot into 2 cups and froth your milk at the same time as your espresso was extracting. By the time you pour those and grind/tamp your next double the machine will be ready to make the next 2.
