Just to clarify, in NASCAR the yellow line rule or double yellow line or what have you (line the delineates the apron from the racing surface) is ONLY in effect at Super Speedways. Daytona, Talladega and now Atlanta due to its reconfiguration. On these 3 tracks its an actual rule, no passing below the yellow line. All other ovals its fair game even below the inside line.

And it's always a judgement call, the rule states once 2 tires go below the double yellow line than at that point it is illegal

Definitely not the black trucks fault. There was room, the other truck moved off the yellow line for the draft. The black truck moved up inside above the yellow line and the other truck tried to defend late and moved the black truck below the line. Small correction Jim Mer. 13:32 In Oval Racing, Especially in NASCAR there's no such thing as track limits. You can go anywhere. The only exception are tracks where pack racing happens, like Daytona, Talladega and now - Atlanta. There you're prohibited from putting a tire below the double yellow line to advance your position. If you do so, you either give it right back, or get a penalty

What I've learned from watching these clips: A lot of sim racers think giving the other driver just their own car width of space is enough. No one seems to be accounting for them locking brakes or missing their line. Everyone seems to think "But I had the line" and so that makes it ok to drive over people's noses and pinch them and give them no room at all. They are trying to completely shut out the other person's momentum and that's just not good racing. Give them room, race them hard, race them clean. It's ok to lose but lose graciously. Don't win being an asshole.
@semdezeeuw12032 жыл бұрын
Dude I know what you mean but some people get enough room but they haven't heard of braking or throttle controle. If i give you enough space. Like 1.5/2 car widths than I have dealt my fair playing card. His line is also my line. But when I overtake you with enough space and have my car in front of you in a turn your should brake slightly just to not hit me. Why do you think that formula 1 racing is so agressive...... they ram their cars right in front of you. You have to anticipate upon it and immidiat react to that. You have to give eachother some room. But also if you get overtaken slow a bit down. You have enough corners to overtake them.....

The yellow line rule is only for what used to be known as restrictor plate racing tracks. Thats talladega and daytona. @HeriEystberg2 жыл бұрын
What I always tell myself before and during a race is to forget everything about winning the race and instead just focus on safely passing the car in front of me. When you try to go for the win you tend to forget about safety because it will require an extraordinary effort to pass several cars, and that means you have to take a lot of risks. Focus on your current position only, and be aware of potential opportunities for overtaking.

Nice to see a PC2 clip; that game got me back into sim-racing after many years off the genre so is a game I have a massive soft-spot for. The point about using your head is probably one of the best messages you could give sim-racers. The penultimate clip, with the Ferrari and Porsche, saying how the Porsche could have just backed out slightly, been smart and just slip-streamed back past on the next straight is a really good one; so often we get done in a corner and see the tinniest of openings and the red-mist will descend with the thought process of "Oh no you don't, I'm going to have you here" followed immediately by an incident, when the best thing to do is just take a breath and stay calm.

15:20 doesn't even need braking. That's all on the Ferrari's fault. Poor perception on his part. That corner is relatively shallow that you don't need brakes to enter it. @11:15 well one could ALSO (in addition to) argue when you are coming up fast on a car that just spun and is sideways on the track... 90% of the time if they are going to try and get out of the way, they are going to HIT THE GAS AND MOVE FORWARD. Your MUCH better avoidance line, is going BEHIND THE SPUN CAR, NOT IN FRONT!!! Same goes for a walking pedestrian, it will ALWAYS be safer to walk BEHIND the stopped car than in front. Why is this such a hard concept for even experienced racers ?

8:45 Taking more control or initiative in your racing. Giving too much control to the other driver will always give them moves that might feel like they're in the wrong. Learning to control the opponents position since you do you the control going into if you control the amount of space he has ect. Giving space just give him the opportunity to do moves and allows for unpredictable racing.
