Using wavus system I went from fighting a 1000mmr lars to a 1900-2000 bryan, within the same 24hrs all in this order 1200 Hwor, 1800 Xiao, 2000 King. This was all in green and orange ranks. I know prowess isn't the best indicator but they might as well use that to determine rank at this point. It is so impossible to learn this game as someone who prefers to take it slow and steady.

Bro, Tekken 8 ranks are by far the least valuable and least meaningful they have ever been in Tekken. That is part of the problem with this game. Plugging was on a historical high during the first months and people are one-and-doning like crazy. Also they devalued too many ranks by giving away warriors for free. So now even in blue you have shit gameplay like that Lee and Ling. There are not enough ranks until the Gold ranks. Also the prowess matchmaking System gave people who only play 1 character a matchmaking boost. The game and it's ranking system are fucked and too many new players are pluggers and one-and-doners. Until bamco fixes the System and then does a hard reset, ranks mean nothing. In tekken 7 it was bad already but still was better in terms of system, Rank distribution and plugging behaviour +less one-and-doning.
@therrfuin78979 ай бұрын
this is great but definitely makes a point about the complete lack of player expression in 8. Theyve made so few moves for every character incredibly strong and the other 80+ moves completely useless so why would any player even bother learning an entire moveset when its obvious 6 moves will do the trick all the way to G.O.D

I think it’s funny how game designers have so much hubris they think they can come up with better ranked systems than ELO. It seems they are underestimating the task. Btw Tekken Lord is just Tekken God in countries where they can’t say “God”. So it’s not a valid rank to show

This is a very fun video, good shit. That said, I've seen people do this exact same thing with games that have a ton of skill expression, and everyone is wrong literally every time. I don't think this is a valid "gotcha" to have a guess be way off because by nature, we're only seeing a snapshot of a player's skill. We are all inherently inconsistent. Sometimes you play above your rank, sometimes you play below it. On average, any player that plateaus at a rank is deserving of it, for better or worse. Just because they pop off one round doesn't mean their rank is totally unrelated to their skill. And maybe I totally misunderstood your point. I'm definitely not infallible. But like I said before, I did really enjoy the game. Thanks for the vid, obama. btw, I got 6 points
@goiflin50569 ай бұрын
Yeah taken out of context it can be hard. There's some tells though. Some of them are glaringly obvious. I think I missed three of those guesses because I just tend to lump everyone in the same rank if they clearly aren't really comfortable with their character yet, so it's hard to tell. I'm sure the same goes for people higher than me, when they consider other skillsets. It was like this in 7. You can have a round that makes you look TGO but you're just another Fujin most of the time.

Bring back death matches. Limiting sets to BO3 in every mode except custom lobbies stinks. I have to send a friend request to someone, wait for them to accept it, and fhen invite them to a lobby for us to play more matches. There's no reason to limit set length. There's an argument for prevention of win trading/ELO manipulation in ranked, but playing the same person with the same character for extended periods of time is the best way to learn the game. The new training mode is great, but it is not the same as a death match.

1:00 the only issue i have with this comment is that very much depends on your own experience.. even if your generally a knowledgeable gamer, there will always be games, styles or skills you value more and pick up on better.. your own biases have a big affect on judging a game and a players level .. i dont like 2d fighters so when i watch matches, although i know a little bit, i will always miss small things that show skill etc ... Some games to me just look like the players are just mashing! But thats most likely down to my lack of certain knowledge and interest than the game not being skillful etc (and im talking watching pros playing) its like the difference between call of duty and gears of war.. how on earth can u say which is more skillfull or better,? Yes u will have your own opinion because of what u prefer but that doesn't make it true! 😂 I would say its gears because i like movement and mastering certain controls etc, but someone else would say cod as the gun play (snap shooting etc) and aiming is faster in some ways... Whos to actually say?
