Hits from the streets used to have me cracking up. I grew up during the time where I remember all of these that you listed. It seemed like as time went on, technology was also growing. I used to record songs off of radio but once music videos were made, I had no need to record from radio. Then the era of technology boom was born and limewire, Napster and others had ways to download music. It seem like music videos were becoming less and less on television and reality tv became popular. Nowadays, KZbin is the place to come to relive those music videos experience that I used to rush home from school just watch a world premier video.

Back when BET had a variety of programming into the early 2000s. From the HBCU football games to the classic black and white films with iconic black stars from the '30s and '40s to _Video Soul_ to the _Top 20 Countdown_ to _Cita's World_ to _Planet Groove_ to _Midnight Soul_ to _Hitz from the Street_ to _Sprite Nite_ and the nightly news wedged in between. And don't forget about the _Walk of Fame_ specials. Even the BET Awards' early years must watch TV. The changing times with how everyone consumes music, TV and film on a daily basis changed how we look at entertainment, for better or worse. _106_ should've ended after Terrence and Rocsi. It quickly became the Bow Wow show after that.

Beyoncé didn’t have any influence over that show ending. The show was on life support and it was just time for it to end. Music and music platforms has changed drastically as well as social media and that was a major part of it along with the hosts not being the same since AJ and Free. I also believe that Terrence and Rossi’s incident was real. Their excuse for that made absolutely no sense. If she was on vacay, then that’s all they had to say. Anywho, the 106 and Park era cannot be recaptured, just like the 90’s. This generation missed out big time.
@cavalrystyles87762 жыл бұрын
They lost traction because the host just kept getting worse and worse. Tiger and Julisa was imo an improvement tho. I know, Unpopular opinion. Terrance and Rocsi on the other hand were the definition of Cringe. And Bowwow ever hosting was a joke.

I also think they lost traction because there were fewer big names willing to keep ratings afloat. 106 started to become a Chitterling circuit after 2011.

I think the HOSTS are what is most important.

No one watches tv anymore, it’s all about streaming platforms and podcast. Plus people would rather just go see a video when they went to instead of waiting for a show to only show half of the video. And at school the kids would talk about the episode and etc, even if you were middle class or poor everybody knew about Aj and Free and 106 & Park. Sometimes you’d watch it at your friends house and vice versa after they AJ & Free left it became Trash, by the time we started to watch it again to see what it was like now Bow wow had taken over. I can remember when 106 n park first premiered!! It was so interesting cool and all that. On that show is when I found out who jill Scott was. I heard her and saw her performance. The first chance I got I went and bought her first cd!! It would be nice have another show like that!! 😎

Rocsi and Terrence get a bad rep sometimes...they did a good job with the show and you can't dismiss their Era. The show failed in the long run because BET didn't know what to do with it anymore. The constant changing of the format and hosts didn't help either. Bow I'm convinced in some way wanted it to be l about him and didn't want a co host and as popular as bow was...no one checking for a bow wow led show in the early 2010s. It was just a changing of times. If they did bring it back it would have to just be a late night show with no countdown.

That was my show. When that show ended, I was done with BET. They had got rid of all those video shows to show reruns of old Judge Hatchett shows and playing Baby Boy a thousand times a week 😒👎🏿

I watched 106 & Park faithfully from AJ & Free to Bow Wow hosting it. Gotta say the time period from AJ & Free and Terrence & Rocsi were the best times to watch it. When Bow started hosting it I missed more episodes than I ever have except for freestyle fridays.

Always wondered why the show ended. Last I heard about the show was when bow wow stole and used the company credit card. Don't know if it was true or not?

While I respect 106 and Park, I really can't relate. My ish was Rap City, Yo MTV Raps, Planet Groove, Video Soul, Caribbean Rythm, and even Head Bangers Ball. However, if be remiss if I told you that I don't feel a lil nostalgia having seen this video. Just that time period alone invokes feelings of melancholy when I think back to those times. Good video.

So we’re just going throw the legacy of Video Soul out the window. Video Soul was on BET way before 106 & Park and Donnie Simpson interviewed all the artists from that era. Oh yeah….this was before TRL as well.

I miss 106 & Park. It's the TRL for the black audience. I dare say it's better than TRL, depending on the type of music you're into. Plus, IMO, AJ & Free are better hosts than Carson Daly.

BET needs to relaunch some of there old shows. I would totally watch it. My tops were “midnight love”, “106”, “Rap City” and “Hits from the streets”. Anyone remember when Hits was at a college campus, met some girls with hairstyles and goes to each girl: “up-do, up-do, up-do” and the one without one “Do-do”😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I laughed for daysssss. I love hits, he needs to come back.
