It was my first world cup and indeed the most memorable for me. My favorite moment is Germany vs Italy in semifinal, the assist from Pirlo was brilliant and the finishing from Grosso is on point. Most importantly, it happened at last minutes of the extra time.

This is also the ONLY World Cup to not see any upsets in the Group Stages. All the top 2 favourites in every group qualified for their respective groups, making it one of the best round of 16 set of fixtures I've ever seen in a World Cup campaign.

It sets up lower quality matches in the knockout rounds. For example Costa Rica vs Greece in World Cup 2014 round of 16. I'm not sure if many are keen to watch such a match, especially in the latter stages of the competition.

I'm Italian and despite losing the final on penalties, 1994 remains probably my favorite tournament! Baggio, Romario , stoichkov, hagi, maradona's mental celebration, awayran's goal vs Belgium, preudhomme, balakov, lechkov, Kennet andersson's celebration, brolin , dahlin, amokachi...! So many great goalkeepers - pagluica, marchegiani, tafarel, ravelli, preudhomme, Ilgner! The time difference was annoying but it was magical watching the matches with my cousins! Baggio's late goal to save the game vs Nigeria was incredible! I was heartbroken for days after the final 😢
