My theory with the Hoth Medical Chamber was that it was a sort of 'apology' set for the disastrous Assault on Hoth in 2016. I mean, it had the medical centre and Leia, two of the biggest omissions from the set.

In Lego's 2018 financial report it was noted that for the first time in a long while, Star Wars was not one of the top 4 best selling themes that year. Even LEGO NINJAGO outsold Star Wars in 2018. That's pretty wild considering that Star Wars is well known to be one of Lego's flagship themes and top money makers. Just goes to show how little people liked the 2018, even with the most sets of probably ANY theme ever made that year it still couldn't crack being a top seller.

I get that most people army build with battle packs, but as somebody who refuses to buy more than one of a set (except for rare exceptions like when I bought three Zombie Captain America figures because I needed zombie parts for a stop-motion and the time I accidentally bought two Rex helmet sets on May the 4rth), I just saw the Jedi and Clone battle pack as a cheap way to get Ki-Adi Mundi and Barriss Offee with two bonus clones, so I didn’t think the set was that bad. I get why others thought it was, but I don’t buy multiple of the same battle pack.

It was a perfect opportunity to make Army Troopers battlepack, throw in there a mini trench or barricade, two army troopers, imperial officer and a dirty Stormtrooper.

2018 was a terrible year for Star Wars overall. The backlash for The Last Jedi and Battlefront 2 was still at an all time high, Solo performed poorly, Resistance got dislike bombed to the ground, and Kathleen Kennedy extended her stay at Lucasfilm for another 3 years…

Assumption is wrong. Lego doesnt increase the piece to bump the price, but they add pieces to get to the price lego intends a set has to be. In my honest personal opinion the last jedi wast the worst of the sequels and neither were most of the 2018 sets. The fo was though, but bb8 was essential in that set.

Whole scene existed because of BB8. I honestly don't know what minifig I would take away from it to replace, all of them feel pretty essential. But then again, this set was so horrible, I would argue that adding two more figures would bump it up to only bad set

I understand, but the first order AT-ST really sucked for a few reasons First, the Rogue one version retired the day before the Episode 8 version came out, it was 45 dollars (the same price), and it’s considered one of the best AT-ST models. Second, if they at least added the full head with the ability to remove it, it would have been a much better deal

It was the worst year because it was the worst year for Star Wars in general. The sequel movies didn't resonate with younger audiences and straight up aimed to alianate old fans. They ruined LaiaSolo as a ship, they ruined Luke as a hero, the new main protags and villains are booring and one-note the ship designs are rehashes of the original trilogy instead of something more clever and original... It's just that. Many people I know consider Disney Star Wars a fake and non-canon because it's not what George wrote for the sequel of his story.

The Sequels are bad, but rogue one is tied with revenge of the sith for my favorite Star Wars movie. And I though solo was pretty good too.

@@fivelonelyclones Yeah, Rogue One and Andor are simply fantastic pieces of addition to the Star Wars franchise. I even like the Book of Boba Fett, it wasn't that bad. But that doesn't make it easier to get over how the sequels ruined the old heroes.

Also another bad year in my opinion is 2021, it was mostly forgettable and the only thing worth of mention was the bad batch shuttle. 2018 was alright for me, mainly loved the Jedi and clone battle pack. Used to love the 2018 first order battle pack but after that I sold all my first order related stuff, I didn’t regret it much.

@@zachduperron8543exactly they started the year with 2 horrible sets being the downsized Imperial Shuttle with no detail and like the 10th 4+ X-Wing. They kick around to August and Moff Gideons Cruiser and mando Starfighter were pretty good however we only got 1 bad batch set and 2 CW sets. They also ruined the UCS Gunship calling it an og trilogy set and have shit figs. Then we got the UCS AT-AT tho which might be the best LSW set of all time.

I rewrote this comment as I made a mistake in the last one where I said 2005 instead of 2004 so.. I think 2023 had been mediorce so far too I'd rank top 3 worst years as 2018 2004 2023 My reasoning for 2018 being the same as yours and my reasoning for 2004 being that there was very few sets released and 2 of them were basically just repackaged tie fighter sets

I loved the anakins star fighter set since it was a remake of one of the first sets I owned so it’s a bit nostalgic thing for me that I simply can’t hate it Also people were way to harsh on the new xwing pilot helmet molds, they weren’t bad and I wish they’d stick around longer

The only one I can remember is the Obi-Wan interceptor, but also the OT sets where forgettable like…do you remember the Han Solo Hoth set from that year? And a remake of the UCS Death Star where most of the changes where in the minifigure department just a year after the original retired? Oh and also the UCS assault on Hoth…yeah…

imo the worst Lego Star Wars year really the only highlights for me from this year is the Cloud City, Solo Tie Fighter, Anakins Starfighter, and the UCS Y-wing. and then 2014 was the best year :)
