Helpful video like always...want to change subject for a second I last night watched your video about pushing the shot....Ive watched close to a 100 videos to help me and not one helped just got in from practicing and with your technique my grouping went from 10 to 13 inch groups to 3 and 4 inch groups and in my opinion I've improved considerably.... just so you know I was going through exactly what you were explaining about in the video (shooting left) after 6 arrows I noticed a big difference thank you so very much for your help were nobody else seemed to touch on my problem...I'm am now a subscriber

Great topic jason! I like a straight handle simply due to the tradition of it. Bows had straight handles for a great length of time in archery history and It still holds up!

Yep and they feel so natural to shoot.

Every video you put out I learn something new and get more into the idea of getting a good custom Hill Style. The closest I've ever had to one was a Bear Montana and the hand shock was so bad that it wasnt fun to shoot at all

Glad you are enjoying the content. Hill bows like heavy arrows.

Best explanation of how to grip an asl bow. Have just found your channel. I've struggled with my ASL bow for years now! Thanks a lot.

Visually I’m not a fan of D style/Hill style bows. However I’d luv to shoot one cuz I’m always open to the fact that like it or not visually I will always use whatever works best for me. Not having shot one I wouldn’t know so hopefully I can try one pretty soon before I order my first custom bow!!!!

Definitely worth testing one out and seeing what you think. First time I shot one I was hooked.

I have a straight grip on my St. Patrick lake Northern Styk and I really like it. Thank you for this video.

I find a Cherokee Push & Pull Draw works for a short range shot on a Hill Style Bow Must have a strong thumb. Good to have for speed shots.

It's amazing how fast you can shoot these bows with a straight grip.

I like for an ASL/flat limb longbow a universal/duel side style notched/Locator grip about medium maybe a hair deeper where is higher in grip since for me I can still use a full grip how I want, an added is bonus of locator so I can repeat shot. Problem is most bows when using a straight grip particularly on Howard Hill or most ASL adult custom/semi-custom bows I would have to ask for a grip in round or English longbow/shortbow style easiest to find but made on more modern bow or a smaller dished grip which for some companies has a specific older name. I have hand size issues on an ASL grip where a proper full grip and fingers even close to touching is nearly impossible to do as most are either Howard hill style deep and skinny with a almost wedge shape I would want or made as a Pope & Young short enough but wide to where grip is square. then on Pope and Young I find often lower priced/high production brands skip rounding corners so bow hurts in my grip if I do find a grip for my size and can fully close my hand in proper full grip or can ask brans so I would have to modify my grip by sanding corners down or using a few layers of grip material.

Yep grip shape and thickness matters. That's why it's best ti test a few and find what works best for you.

Do you ever have a feather go into your hand?
@SamkoTradBow8 ай бұрын
not in the last 20 years. When I make my arrows I cut that point off the feather quill.

It's so fantastic! Would you please tell me: 1) For the arrow rest, how deep do you cut past the center? 2) What is the width of the remaining arrow pass? I would like to have a similar arrow rest for my bow. Thank you very much.
@michaelcancilla95398 ай бұрын
Hill styles are cut before center.
@SamkoTradBow8 ай бұрын
I dont make bows, but i know most hill style bows are not even cut to center. and I dont know what you mean by remaining arrow pass. If you give me more detail I will try to answer.
