Why aftermarket exhaust breaks the Lotus Emira

Yes the valves seems to be the issue. Spoke with another after market exhaust brand for the emira and they said they don't mess with the valves on thir own exhaust kit. Just let it do it's thing. Best advice was to get an active Valve controller it comes with a remote. That way you can have the valves open or closed with the remote. You can open it up with the new exhaust on always if you choose. Milltek is the company

Appreciate the info! I heard even Milltek users are having issues. Have you seen any successfully have the kit on their car without issues weeks after installation?

@@OperationRacecar not really but I know someone with a larini exhaust kit who didn't complain of any issues like that. Also I haven't heard any complain about the remote valve controller

@@artlorddavis5836 good to know. I’m actually with my exhaust guy now and he confirmed Milltek/Larini got it figured out with their remote valve controllers and using the stock valve. Thanks brother. Fingers crossed mine will be fixed in a couple days s

There is only one solution - custom valve controller from Miltek. That fixed mine. The problem is that the ECU gets misaligned with the position of the valve and only Lotus can recalibrate it. Unless you replace with a custome valve controller which always keeps the valve open ( you want that) and returns “all ok” to ECU.
