C’mon, it’s way too early to make a determination about any of our qbs. The comparison with Milroe is especially ridiculous though. You have to go back to high school to get an understanding of Orji’s passing abilities, where he had a 48.5% completion percentage vs Milroe’s 61% during their senior years. To get that % up to even 60% would require a MASSIVE improvement, let alone 65-67%. Not saying it isn’t possible, but realistically it’s extremely unlikely. The hype feels similar to Milton rn, and we all remember how that went

A Michigan fan for over fifty years and not one of these hailmary quarterbacks has ever amounted to anything to brag about and there have been a lot of them. At best I see Alex Orji as another Danard Robinson not as fast but harder to tackle, but at best very similar passing results. I am expecting similar results. Michigan will eat lessor competition and get eaten by the Oregons and Ohio St. Texas will be an interesting test.

Not sure where this 65-67% completion rate will come from. That’s historically strong for any QB, let alone one known for his legs and not his arm. Aside from McCarthy no Michigan QB has sniffed anything close to 68-70%. The second best completion rate was Todd Collins at 65%, and he was exclusively a pocket passer. If Orji manages better than 60% it will be quite the accomplishment. If he hits 65%+ then lookout, he will have had an outstanding not just good-to-great season. And most pundits are hoping for a lot less to consider it a good season.

I've been a diehard fan for 40 years. This kid will not be good for us. Idk where you guys get all this confidence in from. There's a reason why they haven't let him throw passes yet. Some reason Michigan fans think he will be very good. He will get benched quick after a game or two

I don't want to go as far to say he will not be good for us. He was good for us in this year using his legs. But yeah i do prefer Davis Warren in there. But really all I want is the best game manager the team is gonna be extremely good again.

He’s going to make mistakes, period. He’s also a freak of nature. I’ve studied his HS films. He’s got an arm, an accurate Deep pass too. Will he throw picks? Yes. Get over it. JJ threw to B2B pick 6s in a playoff game. 🤷‍♂️ Alex gonna suprise the fug outta the doubters. I have realistic expectations for his season, which includes MANY mistakes from Ints to game management issues. It is what it is. Come the end of November he’s gonna be lit. 🔥

If we have "many" mistakes and INTs as you mentioned then the only logical conclusion I can come to is that the team wouldn't make the playoff in that scenario. Is that your expectation? I'm just asking out of curiosity, no judgement from me. It's rare to find fans who can be rational.

If you're trying to shortchange JJ sir, he had a 72% completion percentage and only threw 4 picks last season. If Orji aint approaching that then I'd chill on all the confidence. Will the doubters be silenced if we're the 3rd or 4th best team in the conference?

Orji may start out platooning with one of the other QBs on the team, but will eventually prove himself. Going to be a team that rises as the season progresses. Wouldn’t be surprised to see them meet with OSU with both teams undefeated in The Game. The rest of CFB will be surprised after the TX game. The way they manage games is unmatched. The sportscasters have underestimated Michigan and their reload. It’s disrespectful! Go Blue 〽️🏈!

I do expect him to have moments or flashes of greatness that will help Michigan win games. As time goes on I expect these moments increase. I Agree Alex is our guy. He is a guy that can go against the grain of College Football. Football is cyclical and going in on a running QB can pay off. UGA, OSU etc are relying on a great passing QB, which Michigan's defense is now ready for. People aren't ready for a punishing ground game that includes the QB. Orji needs to be able to fake the defense when he throws (RPO/PA). If he can the receivers should be open for him

I hope Alex can throw for 2000 yards plus without throwing too many picks , but I am really excited to see him break soem lomg qb runs ! I don’t want them to run him to death like denard but …it drove me crazy with how little they ran JJ. I totally agreed with it , don’t get me wrong , we couldn’t risk him. But it just always felt like a lethal weapon that we never used . With orjis speed and size…I hope they aren’t TOO afraid to let his legs be…not necessarily a primary weapon….but at least a semi regulr one .

Not sure why everyone thinks orji needs to throw short passes if he's not accurate. You need pin point accuracy on short passes. If anything throw it deep more and let the receivers adjust.
@Adam-vs2in
@Adam-vs2in Ай бұрын
Look, the coaches know what they’re working with more than we do. None of these QBs are going to be like JJ, so they just need a QB that can make standard passes and take care of the ball. The defense is still elite so they have to move avoid turnovers and move the ball up the field to let the defense stay rested and not start drives from their own 30 yard line.

Orji has thrown the ball one time in 2 seasons. He’s a freak show and can throw the ball through a brick wall. That doesn’t mean you can play qb at a high level. His throwing highlights are from spring games. When it’s 3rd and 10 and everyone knows you need a first down. I don’t think he’s that guy.

The academy school require that their players are within height/weight requirements of the military, which is a massive disadvantage. If Michigan ran the triple option or wing t as well as the academy school, no one could stop them.

I am a big Michigan fan, but your endorsement is based on what? He has barely thrown the ball downfield. A QB has to be able to throw accurately, read defenses, understand the offense, etc.. A one-dimensional running QB will not get it done.

I’ve been saying from the get go that he never got a fair shake. He’s better than JJ. He’s faster, tougher and has a stronger arm. They never let him pass very much when he did play. Watch what happens. He’s going to have a HUGE year and everyone will ask why they didn’t play him sooner.

It’s very simple. The plan was for Harbaugh and JJ for another year. We are a mystery this year and now with the pending post season ban, out you gun from Charlotte will be a transfer next year. Why would anyone in CFB now stay in a program that can’t play in the playoffs?

I don't know what this love affair with Alex Orji is about, but it's getting sickening. If you start Orji, your setting him up for failure because if he goes out there and stinks, then you have to bench him which will destroy his confidence. However if you create a big Orji package then you can build-up his confidence as the season goes along. The starter needs to be either Davis Warren or Jack Tuttle which will allow Orji to work his way into the starting position. Alex Orji has yet to prove he can pass the ball; he didn't even look good in the Spring game. You're not going to beat any good team without a passing threat point blank period. HE'S NOT JALEN MILROE! Milroe has Lamar Jackson like speed and Orji does not. Orji is more of a power runner who will run over more guys than he runs pass.

First off, awesome nuanced video!! Great listen in general. - I agree on the comp % completely - the 3.5 Y/C part was spot on. Some people forget that it is sack adjusted - Though I think you guys lack deep threats as of now, if accuracy isn’t his thing, let him go deep. Worse case he overthrows - IDK “all the potential in the world” as a QB only because he’s never shown the potential to be even be average as a passer. The pitfalls, you hit ‘em all accept one I think: He just isn’t that guy. I’m also interested to see how teams play him. A lot of UM fans said that blitzing Milroe was the plan and they did, and it worked. I wonder if they will play the same against him.
