I spent several years angry at God for my medical discharge, exposure to Nerve Agent, never able to have kids, wife having asthma diabetes and infertility, then almost losing my wife to multiple organ failure kidney disease. We were angry at God for not having the ability to have kids, and not approved to adopt because of medical. But only God knows why, Jesus knew what we could handle and how bad our medical conditions would become to where we could barely take care of each other. We couldn't have imagined what God knew, as HE knows everything we will do before we're born knows every prayer before we pray. Be Thankful and Praise JESUS in all things good or bad, PRAISE HIM! I like your approach. I think this is Kid Rock’s best work, and the lyrics are, definitely, his best. You hit on what I think is the key part of the song. You get what you put in and people get what they deserve…… then later, he says, been given just ain’t been getting back, I been walkin that there line. Now at this point, most people in society today, would start looking out for themselves, but the lyrics don’t suggest that. So I think I’ll keep a walkin with my head held high, I’ll keep movin on and only God knows why. Folks, God knows everything, so, if we love Him, we have to trust Him. We may not have the answers to some really puzzling questions this side of eternity, but, maybe we don’t need to know. Scott Stapp from Creed pointed out the only thing we, truly, need to know. In the Creed song What’s This Life For, this lyric is repeated over and over, at the end, CAUSE WE ALL LIVE UNDER THE REIGN OF ONE KING. If you know that and truly believe it, none of the other answers you think you need really matter!

With your spiritual approach, I suggest you listen to Believe, by Savatage. Do a version with lyrics. The song is the climactic song in a rock opera about a drug dealer and guitarist who becomes a star, but uses his own product and has a fall from grace and ends up on the streets. He fights his way back but has other problems. When he is at his wits end, he sees something miraculous and begins to ponder an answer for his life. Believe shows his final steps to finding God. This song has the best lyrics I have ever heard, better than any church hymn I have ever sung. I too have made many mistakes and had plenty of dark days, but these lyrics helped me through, and they still do.

I’m not a big fan of Kid Rock’s music, but there are several songs that I do like. This one I truly love! I love the line where it says “you get what you put in and people get what they deserve.” Karma baby! People are too judgmental these days!
