I know this is late but I got a theory on the finale of Amphibia and questions and stuff lol (Trigger warning and spoiler warning?) I think Anne (and anyone) will be able to go to any worlds at any time somehow (but I don’t know for sure its a theory) I only say this because it’s Disney, so it’ll be happy But i mean the fact that Marcy “dying” wasn’t censored shows that it’ll probably be sad like Anne (and no one) will find out of the world so they can never go, but that won’t make sense since the 3 of them are the gems power (if that makes sense) Wait…we never knew what Marcy needed to do- It says, “I just need to-“ and cuts to her “dying” Omg what does she need to do lol Also the ‘thing’ that stole the box must’ve been overpowered (and in the real world) since it worked, the box went to Anne’s world without it being charged- But it was charged, and somehow it wasnt charged in Anne’s world Whatever stole the box, is overpowered and in Anne’s world

But I think the boxes will need to be recharged some how until they are able to travel anywhere. Which is probably why we see hop pop snooping around a museum, most likely to see if there is any mention of a temple here on earth that can recharge the stones.

What I find incredible about Amphibia is how much it changed over the course of two seasons. It went from a light-hearted, comedic sitcom about a girl and her frog family in the first few episodes to becoming one of the most lore-heavy, intense shows with emotional scenes that can break people’s emotional stability. True Colors not only showed the true colors of King Andrias and the three girls, it showed the true colors of the whole show; what it actually is capable of.

One thing I think you missed that was important to Marcy’s character was when she saved Sprig when he was falling to his death. Marcy’s face was still shocked, but you can see she was resolved to try and at least do the bare minimum to save her relationship.

What I love about this show is how the filler episodes get referenced throughout future episodes. It makes you feel that watching the fillers are worth it and it gives a strong message that Anne did experience those things in her early days in Amphibia. I really want more cartoons to do that.

This is a great video. Though one complaint I noticed is that you never mentioned Marcy saving Sprig when Anne unlock her calamity powers. In fact a lot of reviews and discussions related to True Colors don't mention this scene.

Rewatching the season has been helpful in grasping it all. That moment at the end of the Aquarium shifted Marcy's plan from going to Amphibia instead of leaving her friends to "maybe this could go on *forever.* " So genius to have that in front of us the whole time in the intro. Since we got the intro before Marcy At The Gates I just wrote it off as "ooh, who's that character?" as if we're supposed to not know it's Marcy, when what it meant all along was "Marcy is hiding something involving the music box."

OK, but can we talk about how good the foreshadowing in True Colors was? Like, holy cow. Marcy's decision and twist made so much sense. She didn't really treated Amphibia as her new reality, but rather as another one of her espacist fantasies. She talks about her life in Newtopia as if she was role-playing, she describes Anne's situation as a trope and we see her messing up Polly and Sprig's names as late as in The First Temple. The first time she actually treats a danger seriously is in the Flipwart game. And in Reunion, we know she was the one who proposed they get the box, but there was not any reason. She was also very smug and shady, but that wasn't her actual character at all. Like ugh, all the great foreshadowing with this! Take the scene in The Third Temple, the scene where Andrias offers her a deal, and her awkward body language in Battle of the Bands when Anne talks about them going home and you've got the perfect combination of subtlety and hints. Also, Andrias being evil, or at least a bad ruler, was foreshadowed as early as S1. The toads treat awfully the frogs and the system is rigged in their favor. But learning that there's a king means he's the one who made it like that. He's the reason behind this inequality between species and it's a very nice and subtle detail that I really appreciate. Other than that, Andrais' foreshadowing wasn't very subtle but I still find it good. Perhaps the worst foreshadowed part was Mar-Mar's death. I think the biggest indicator was The Sleepover to End All Sleepovers. But still, these are amazing details.

One thing I love about the show is the world building, instead of long lectures we are shown the culture and politics of amphibia first hand, and the way that the system seams a lot like a feudal system (frogs lower class, toads warrior class, newts high class) makes for a very believable world despite all the wackiness

Damn, how you describe how the show touches your heart around the spoiler spoiler sad thing in True Colors, that is what I have felt since I watched that a few weeks ago with my gf. I want someone to be my Sprig to my Anne, the show has made me more emotional than any other show, and I love it in all degrees. I lost it for a few days after that episode viewing, and I was not okay emotionally for a while. I have gotten better but damn, somehow the show hit me harder than ANY other show I have ever seen before in my whole life, even my other favorites like Star Wars The Clone Wars.

Marcy’s great. I relate to her quite a lot. I’m clumsy and I do get laser focused on things I enjoy. My grades used to be really good and I’m smart to an extent but not as smart as Marcy. I do think it’s possible that Marcy could be neodivergent maybe she’s someone on the autism spectrum, has ADHD, or ADD, etc

I believe that one of the other worlds that King Andrias was referencing was The Boiling Isles due to an Amphibian reference in season 2 and that The Owl House does also have some references to Gravity Falls, which is also connected to Amphibia. Also the world of Gravity Falls could be different from Amphibias Earth, but I believe they’re the same
