Grease on marbles is pretty good, it's what we do on Petanque balls to avoid rust, you should try to keep it that way, use acid solutions to recover from the rust, (like white vinegar or stuff for a couple hours) however you should know that from now on the size of your marbles won't be accurate because of the rust so you should consider replenishing your stocks, refrain from using rusty marbles if you want to keep your MMX not orange

@@iAmTheSquidThing I dont think electroplating is a valid option as you need to cover your marble one at a time thus the process would be extremely long and the surface of your marble still wont be smooth (you need an electrical contact to your marble do this and contact points wont be covered), same smoothness issue with lacquer. I think the first film on the marbles is due to graphite powder and though it causes some issue with marbles sticking one another you should think about it as the casual state for your marbles, this film will get back on your marbles over time no matter what you do (unless you delete the parts involved)

I'm terrified how impressive his Panzer 3 and 4 designs will turn out, with as much refinement he is stitching in so far, will they be self propelled, marble machines of musical excess? They aren't ball bearings, they are bearing balls, or simply steel balls. Word order matters. At 11:15 you can see an actuall ball bearing.
@waynec3693 жыл бұрын
Amarokorama, they aren't marbles, either. So, take your pedantry and fuck off with it.
@amarokorama3 жыл бұрын
@@waynec369 It's not pedantic to point out that bearings and balls are two entirely different things. Also, it's perfectly fine to call these steel balls "marbles". Look up the definition if you don't believe it. "A marble is a small spherical object often made from glass, clay, steel, plastic, or agate."

idea: make auto-cleaning module for the marbles

Auto-cleaning and demagnetizing in one step, I like the idea! Though running them through a washing machine after each concert should be easy enough.

Hey Martin, I have an idea to remove the need of magnets on your current magnet wheel, and would retrofit your current design with minimal changes. Think reverse waterwheel. I think you could machine one and test it in a day. Ill put together a quick Fusion design if you want.

The robustness of the new, adjustable designs shine trough your videos. It is quite visible and satisfying to see the incremental improvements that these allows you to make. You are no longer constrained in a local maximum curve that the more rigid designs forced you into. :)

Use isopropyl alcohol, acetone or metholated spirits to clean the marbles. This should not rust the marbles and also act as a solvent to dissolve any residue left on the marbles. It also dries quickly and as another commenter said, it also acts as a degreaser.
