Guys, I am writing right now a very long letter to the Ministry of Culture and ask them why they are sleeping on their hands. You two should have been named "Culture Ambassadors of Türkiye" by now ... Thanks a million for this nice video. Have been years since my last visit to Ayvalik. Time to plan a trip again ...

Lovely videos and so nice a tourist can pronounce the words right. Where did you learn Turkish? I am German but grew up in Turkey in the 60 ies. Most places were just beginning to have Hotels . Now living in Canada, I feel so homesick to Turkey, not Germany. Every Turkish song I hear makes me want to cry. And people are even lovelier when one speaks their language! Thank you! Great job! Am ready to return.

Another great view into Turkish living! Thanks! By the way, after 35 years of marriage, it finally dawned on me that I could cook Iskender at home!! We live away from Turkish eateries, and only get to them occasionally. I was so hungry for Iskender and then home cooking hit me. I am already well versed in the kitchen!! Many different parts of the meal made many pans to clean up. My resulting Iskender was lezzetli....right down to the toasted buttery cubes of flatbread! It was heaven x two nights. 😊❤😊

Oh, what a delightful video capturing the essence of Ayvalik! 🌟 I must say, Ayvalik truly is a hidden gem, and your video does a splendid job at showcasing its beauty and charm. 📝 From the moment you step foot in Ayvalik, you are enveloped in a world of wonder. The glistening turquoise waters, the quaint cobblestone streets, and the warm, welcoming smiles of the locals make you feel like you've found a piece of paradise. 🏖 The picturesque scenes of Ayvalik's islands, like Cunda, are nothing short of breathtaking. The crystal-clear sea, the olive groves, and the charming architecture make it a place you'll never want to leave. 🏝 But what truly sets Ayvalik apart is its rich history and culture. The old stone houses, the historic churches, and the vibrant bazaars all tell a story that goes back centuries. Exploring these treasures is like taking a journey through time. 🏰 And let's not forget the delectable food! Ayvalik is renowned for its fresh seafood and mouthwatering local dishes. Every meal is a culinary adventure, and the flavors are a symphony for the taste buds. 🍽 But it's not just the sights and flavors that make Ayvalik special. It's the people, the sense of community, and the warm hospitality that make you feel like you've found a second home. 💖 In Ayvalik, you can immerse yourself in the slow-paced, laid-back lifestyle, and it's a welcome respite from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The serene sunsets over the Aegean Sea are a testament to the tranquility and beauty that this hidden gem offers. 🌅 So, if you haven't already, I highly recommend adding Ayvalik to your travel bucket list. It's a place where you can relax, rejuvenate, and create beautiful memories. Ayvalik is more than a destination; it's an experience of a lifetime. 🌹🌿💙 Thank you for sharing this wonderful video, and I hope it inspires others to discover the magic of Ayvalik as well! 😊🎉👍 #Ayvalik #HiddenGem #TravelGoals 🌟

This was wonderful to watch. I have been going to Sarimsakli and Ayvalik now for 28 years, almost every year. We only had 3 days there in August so didn't realise they were developing the beach area. You should have went to Seytan Sofrasi. Wonderful views and a beautiful sunset, although very popular in the evening to watch the sunset. There is also some beautiful waterfalls not far away but a bit if a hike to them with a wonderful swimming hole. Thank you for showing us Ayvalik in your eyes. I am homesick for it now.

When I was a child, I felt like I was on vacation everywhere in Türkiye. All areas were almost tourist-free compared to today. My opinion is that the locals have only come to love their old areas and old houses with the interest of tourists in the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today it feels like every old building is being restored.

Ayvalik is a gem. In the summer of 2001 I spent several weeks on Cunda island attending an Ottoman Language Intensive Reading Course co-hosted by by Harvard and Koc Universities, and every day would get to go into Ayvalik, usually using one of the quick boats that went from Cunda. So many happy memories, and your video brought those back to me.

@mismar192110 ай бұрын
No history background? There are no greek since 2tousand years in asia. Eastrome were in before, but no greeks. In Turkiye they are called "Rum", from the romans. Therefore nothing have been built on greek history. In Anatolia were no greeks, Hititer yes, but no Greeks or Helens or Ionians.
@michaelhadjimichael477810 ай бұрын
@@mismar1921 I think you need to go to a european or world library to find out about greek history. Palasgians minoans ionians aecheans Macedonians mycaenians then byzantines called by the turks rums upto this date are or hellenes .then took the name greek from the Italians who first did colonies in South Italy naples(neapoli) and scilly. All of this tribe or race is greek. What about ephasos smirni constantinople cappadocia who were these people what language did they speak. Don't just see one side of the coin if you want to be a fair man.

oh my hometown💕love to see it from your perspective, you captured the feeling great! you can do some antique shopping there, many people who live in the area are too old and the young generation doesnt want to live in the small town anymore, so after their grandma/pa dies, they just sell the stuff to the antique shops and close the house. thats why there are manyyy antique shops with so many unique pieces.

I miss Ayvalık and Sarımsaklı. I used to go there in the summers when I was young. Stayed with a friend's family in the center of town, on the little street leading to the market, and later on they moved to an apartment in Sarımsaklı when it first started getting developed back in the 80s. None of the hotels and resorts existed then.
