🍺Thanks Matt. In regards to “smaller” sized baits. 🤠The Gantarel, Vatalion, and the S-waver 168 have worked well for me on the Largemouth and the S-waver 120 🤑and the Gantarel Jr for smallmouth.👍

That is a great tip. I am struggling with productivity with the big swim baits. The one two punch makes lots of sense. Last fall, I observed a very large water snake swim across a large part of my local lake. He swam over clear water that was over a half mile wide and 50’ foot deep. I trolled up to him as he swam to the bank to try to identify the species of snake. When I got closer, I was blown away when I saw a small school of three pound spotted bass swimming behind the snake. That snake had drawing power like glide baits.

Holy cow I only have big glide baits, so I guess I will have to buy some more baits.😁 Recently the fish that show themselves on the big glide baits have returned to bite a wake bait. Megabass I-Jack and the Berkley Suggs some of my favorites. Also I have caught some on the Stunna and Megabass jerkbaits. Good fishing to all.

I became addicted big swimbaits almost 3 yrs ago now mostly big soft baits. I do fish my I-slide 135 alot & have caught many largemouth & striper on it. Along with my ganterel Jr have caught many largemouth. I only have 1 big glide a 9" shine glide, I haven't had much luck or followers with it. I've caught all my pb's & plenty fish from small to my biggest on large soft baits & small glides so far. I'm in market for a better quality large glide bait. The good ones are exspensive 75+ for one bait is alot to me! Probably why I've fished soft baits so much thier alot easier on the wallet. I know deps 175& 250 are good can crafts, few others. I'm trying to decide which to get for now

I recently picked up a jackal ganterelle Jr and I've been quite successful with it. I'm still trying to figure out the best cadence due to it having a fairly quick glide. But I'm mostly throwing it parallel to the pads and working it slowly then giving it a few quick reel rotations. I'm in eastern Wa state fyi where a good bass is usually in avg 3lb but you can definitely catch seven plus pounders here and there.
@CA-sl2xw2 жыл бұрын
I too have had success with the gantarell Jr. here in TX. You’re doing it right, the retrieve that works best for me, is just a straight (quick) retrieve with a stop. 3,4 or 5 handle turns and pause, it tails off to one side as if it’s evaded the predator then boom. I’ve also tried to “work it” but imo it’s too short and just not made for that. Love mine, ghost gill.

@MattStefanFishing2 жыл бұрын
i fish them the same as the big glides
@kevinatwell97812 жыл бұрын
In my experience, the smaller the glide, the less it actually 'glides'...so not as much fun to fish with. If you're a tournament fisher (I'm not) then it would seem your goal would be to put as many fish in the boat in as short a time as possible...I can think of a lot of baits that would probably do this better than a small glide. Also, I'm not sure that the bluegill hinged baits would best be considered a glide - the ones I have tend to wiggle and dart a short distance when you stop them suddenly but they don't glide very far. They are productive, but probably not more than a large similarly shaped square bill. In essence, the hinged design works best in the larger baits, not so good in the smaller ones, IMO.

What would you say would be the perfect rod specs for those? I always hear guys talk about throwing those on a jig rod, but if you could only have one to do it what would you choose from a specs point of view? In my mind I would think something mod-fast and like 7ft-ish, but still curious to hear other perspectives

I had a couple of small glide baits that I used and caught quite a few good fish on them. Spots would go nuts for them. Unfortunately, those baits were all lost during the Great Crankbait Box Melt of 2022. Now, they're just bloated globs of plastic.

@LowBrowFishing2 жыл бұрын
@@jamesh7469 It was in the 90s outside. I was a bonehead and left one of my crankbait boxes out on the back of my boat instead of putting it back in storage. Lost all the baits in the box. Just like an old VHS tape would do on the dash of your car.

Ego, my friend. Ego. Whilst I must say baby glides are poor options. Glides be too mechanical and too predictable. I asked how many fish does Milliken have to lose to stop using the Hinkle? He replied the real question is how many fish does it take to keep using it. I guess that cost him that one-21 in. tournament with 4 unders at 15 in or less. That was an easy win. Only 3 boats came in with limits out of only 20. I guess they never learn. A bass cannot wrap its mouth around a Hinkle, and when it can, it comes off. The guy that invented the Hinkle needs therapy may I say. Guess why they make smaller versions at ICAST23?

It’s not ego, ask Butch Brown. There’s a time and place for the Hinkle or Deps 250.

I understand the big fish big lure thingy. It ain't happening from shore. I have big lures to know so. Secondly, big fish were had by small lures at a high frequency. Fact, Senkos have accounted for the most biggest fish across the world if I had to guess, and I would likely stand to be right. Explain why Matt has high rate of success on the micro chatter and prefers it. I already know. In the ego argument, there is also stupidity.
@WolverineXXXX2 жыл бұрын
You wanna have a discussion? I'll tell you about my comment. My brother who is the best fisherman bar none will not go against me unless I use the giant lures. He knows better. I'm talking in general sense or tournament sense. You always wanna catch the most fish and the biggest fish. You just have to weed out the small ones. There's always a place and a time for everything. Your ability to decide should be simplified to the best squareroot. Yes, there's a place for Jitterbugs and Spooks. Am I going to throw them? Perhaps like zero percent, bc I have better lures. People like Milliken and Butch have become Japanese specialists. You should never throw a frog in the open, except if frogs are the only forage, but even so, I'd go with a single hook like an Evergreen or a Renosky. You feel me? However, my non-froggy topwaters will get the job done. There, my explanation. My level is too high bruh. Tell Butch to come do that to me. Easy money.
