I came off 1.94% fixed through covid and now paying 6.4% and have just refinanced with Macquarie for 6.09% variable and expecting to have it drop to under 6% again this year.

They aren't selling as many home loans because of the high levels of rental and mortgage stress in the market right now I think so are just trying to stimulate sales. It is a surprise though, I didn't expect to see further rate cuts until the second half of the year. Unemployment is rising though so it may effect the RBA meeting results.

Unemployment is still too high. May is the best window if there is one . How many times did we see economists say "there was not going to be a rate rise" and there was one. Be careful nothing you are showing indicates anything of a cut. I'm fortunate to get data from first hand sources that is sent to the ABS. I don't know what is coming but based on what I have seen there will be no cut this year,and if there is one it will be 50 basis points in September

@@DashAU that is what i see too. If things were bad then retail spending would plummet and we would see empty stores. I have yet to see that, indicating there is money still around. The other factor is that there is a buyers market now happening for propertty, so if you didn't get in then you will be waiting a while.
