Still Interesting how British pundits beat around the bush with Potter rather than straight up admit he just hasn't been good enough!

Yes, they will somehow find and justify some excuse every week why it hasn't been working and how it's not Potter's fault!!

Not true. There are heaps of English pundits that have asked for him to get sacked.

I think every single pundit has said he's not been good enough, there's no point repeating the same shit over and over again. There are so many mitigating circumstances that it's pointless to just lay all the blame at his feet

You can make all the excuses you want for Potter but at the end of the day he hasn't been good enough. Yes he's in an exceptionably difficult situation but he needs to atleast show something, missing top 4 is acceptable considering the circumstances but 2 wins in 14 is diabolical. Yes next season will be better but the fact that when faced with tough problems he completely collapsed proves he's not up to it. There are always going to be difficulties but a top coach has to be able to adjust and overcome, this season is extra difficult but he still has to be able to achieve atleast a few results, otherwise how do you expect him to overcome the challenges necessary to win a Prem or Champions league title. Calling him a "system coach" seems to be code for "unless things are perfect you cant expect him to get results". That may work for a midtable team but if you want to be a winner then you must scrape by even when your system fails, you got to build morale even where there is none, create stability from chaos and instill a desire to win at all costs in your squad. Potter has shown a complete inability to do any of that, rather than shielding his team from the chaos of around the club he's let them be consumed by it. The most damning evidence is that the best performances have been from players brand new to the squad before they've had a chance to learn the system (Felix, Madueke, Enzo, Mudryk), but once he's had more time with them they seem to regress, this shows that he himself is part of the problems rather than just a victim of them.

Let me give my take which also holds some English media like you responsible- most of English media (including Tifo) has been hesitant to rip into Potter when he literally has been stinking it up since Jan. Here's some data which you didn't look at: Chelsea in PL table since Potter took over (relegation form), goals scored across all 4 top tiers of English football (we are one of the worst) since November, worst run of form for Chelsea since 80s (when the club was struggling for survival literally) and many more. Instead such evidence is very cleverly ignored by some of you at Tifo, instead choosing to focus on 'positives', all of which seems to suggest that your reading of Potter is self-admitedly very sympathetic. But that's not the content I have known you for, you're usually very well and thorough with your arguments otherwise. Not with Potter. I'm sorry but he is definitely out of his depth. The narratives also in his defense (mostly from Matt Law who was baying for Sarri's blood back in 2019) are very amateurish and shoddy - too big a squad to manage ? And then complain about injuries in the same breath ? Pick a lane!

Thank you. I’m fed up seeing them defending their countryman to their teeth and refusing to call it like how it is. The team that won the CL two seasons ago managed to win only 2 out of their last 16 games and not to mention the new signings form have started to dipped as well tells you that the job’s too big for him

Everyone is frightened to lose the ball or they are so greedy they don't want to pass it to anyone else. Sick to death watching people playing side and back ball with players ignoring the forward running in behind defenders awaiting the ball. In the end the runners stop running and we end up with Chelsea ball.

To answer this this video’s eponymous question, one needs look no further than the fables of Aesop. In this case, “The Lion Grown Old”, also known as “The Old Lion” or “The Sick Lion”. For the purposes of this comment, I will use Samuel Croxall’s version of the narrative. “A LION, worn out with age, lay fetching his last gasp, and agonizing in the convulsive struggles of death. Upon which occasion several of the beasts, who had formerly been sufferers by him, came and revenged themselves upon him. The Boar with his mighty tusks, drove at him a stroke that glanced like lightning. And the Bull gored him with his violent horns. Which when the Ass saw they might do without any danger, he too came up, and threw his heels into the Lion’s face. Upon which, the poor old expiring tyrant uttered these words with his last dying groan: “Alas! how grievous is it to suffer insults, even from the brave and the valiant; but to be spurned by so base a creature as this is, who is the disgrace of nature, is worse than dying ten thousand deaths!”. Had do we been denied our license and gone into administration or had RA demanded his £2billion back, thus settling the purchase, with an enormous debt our woes, while very real, would have been at the hands of unseen, nonspecific forces. Bureaucracy. Long-term financial mismanagement. Geopolitical maneuvering. Instead, the. debt was wiped clean, the club was purchased by a multi-billion dollar conglomerate, and huge investment was made in the squad. And yet, we are being bested week in and week out by those we have long dominated, by those who had not lifted a trophy in a half decade, a decade, two decades, or more.

In the defense of Potter he had to work with new players that he really didn't want and try to integrate with the current squad. However his vision and style is next to non existent and he sounds defeated in every press conference. It's clear he lost the dressing room but the English media won't admit they are wrong about Potter. No manager survives at the club with the dressing room against him.

@@lifeisagame2023 if you think spending 600 million would instantly give you results you are a dumbass. It's true chelsea should be winning at least a few matches but Chelsea's whole problem is they can't score goals. They have some of the best defensive stats in the premier league as they concede less goals than the other teams. The biggest problem is none of the 600mil went to buying a decent striker.

@@professionalprocastinator6428 no I would expect my team to be better not worse, tuchel got champions league 1st season n world club cup. They spent 600m n gone from title challengers last season to 10th. If you are happy with that even in transition you are a fool. Also to spend 600m and ignore the actual problem ie scoring goals is something only an ignorant arrogant fool would do. Seriously you win the champions league n still can't get a even averagely good striker is criminal

I just want Potter to learn. Resisting the urge to want him sacked, because our team and our young players just don't need that dysfunction and abrupt change. But I want him to learn. Clearly he's struggling to win with a top team. He doesn't understand how to be the favourites and still win. Tactically. But I want him to learn, while yet managing Chelsea. I want him to learn how to speak to the media in a vulnerable way, instead of giving shutdown answers to most questions. To be open, and realise at a big club, an open manager is a loved & embraced manager. A closed off one is very very annoying. Feels like he doesn't have time to answer fans' concerns and questions. Tactically: Don't just play 4-2-3-1. Don't just play safe. Don't just play Tiki-taka. That's what simp managers do. Manger 101 tells you to do those 3 things. Be creative, don't be afraid to lose your job or media scrutiny. Play Raz at wingback and double down on it, don't back out and stick to a safe formation. Recognise that at a top club, you don't have to try to play Tiki-taka, the smaller teams will force you to anyways. Even if you didn't try. Your goal should be to create space more than keeping the ball. And finally, a number 9 is like a good GK. They aren't there because you can't play or win without them, they're there because with them you no longer have to be perfect in order to win. They make incredible saves, score half chances, cover up defensive mistakes, score ugly goals. I wish Graham would learn these things.

I'd have to disagree. We're a BIG club & should be acting like it. It's clear GP (wasn't) ready to manage a top side, so why should we sacrifice the entire club's future for his own growth? 😂🤡 He shouldn't have been here in the first place.
