All other judges have someone else over them to ensure they behave ethically for recusals, gifts, and decisions. There is no one to watch the watchmen,’they are on the honor system, so they are free to be as unethical as they wish, ex. Thomas secretly receiving over $4 million in gifts from people who often have business in front of the court.

The problem isn't the number of justices. Its justices who act more like judicial engineers than judges. You ruke on te case at hand, and should not be overwhelmed by every implication your decision might have in the future. You shouldn't try to make once and for all decisions. The exact opposite is true. In the Roe vs. Wade decision, the Supreme Court created rules (law) regarding abortion out of thin air. In the Chevron decision, the Court delegated legislative powers to federal agencies. The current Supreme Court did not “make law”, they vacated prior decisions that HAD made law.
