We had an Aussie doc on tv years ago ate 9 eggs a day to show how bad they were. (Yes. Ridiculous overkill) He failed badly. His good cholesterol rose, his bad was lowered drastically, his tryilycerides fell by a third, his blood sugars lowered and he was literally left with "egg on his face" while still insisting we only eat 4 a week.

My doc is still holding to the belief that I should not eat eggs due to my high cholesterol. He actually rolled his eyes at me when I told him that recent studies disprove that. Western medicine docs are just so firmly entrenched in what they were taught in medical school and what they learn from Big Pharma, and it gets really frustrating! Why docs are so afraid to do a bit of research is beyond me, and it shouldn't be the patient educating the doc! Thanks for all your great info Dr. Westman!

My mother had high cholesterol for years during the time of the "cholesterol is bad" lie, ultimately Satins, lead to her breaking a hip due to muscle weakness and I spent over and hour arguing with her Dr. that 90 year old women don't need statins, that is AFTER she broke her hip...she needed muscle strength so much more than she needed statins!!!!

been doing keto for 4 months, lost 25 lb.s, A1C down from 6.7 to 6.5, very happy with progress reversing T2D. But my triglicerides are REALLYhigh, and HDL low. I have refused to take STATIN so I am hoping the eggs (I love them and usually have two for breakfast every day) will help me get those numbers down. Maybe I should eat more of them every day. Right now, I am in argue mode with the doctors who want me to do STATIN...they say high triglicerides can lead to Pancreatitis...they have me worried, but I have an appointment with Dr. Westman in September and want to wait until I get his opinion.

I have lost 150 pounds since May 2021 and have kept it off. What the good doctor says about eggs is absolutely correct, I believe. I eat 6 to 10 eggs every day, and have for months and months and months. I’m thankful that I absolutely love them I never get tired of them, I don’t think there’s a better way to do them than over-easy. I do not know of a more satiating food than eggs.

I really enjoy Dr. Westman's presentations. He has such a calm, kind demeanor and explains what we need to know. Personally I am quite fed up with the medical community in my area. I live in a rural area in upstate NY and all the providers seem the same. (Had a nurse practitioner explain her concerns for my high LDL. I explained that recent studies find that high LDL in a person in their 60's is protective of the immune system and against all-cause mortality & I handed her the study.) *She condescendingly replied in a slow and highly enunciated fashion saying: "I'm here to Ed-U-Cate you". Really? I wouldn't visit any doc if it weren't for my thyroid prescription.

Again, thank you, thank you!!!! As I was looking around google about electrolyte balance, I noticed over and over and over, every website every recommendation was fruits, veggies and lean meat, it is no wonder with that subtle push of plant based low fat that people are sick. It is also no wonder that I believed for 20 years that if I just ate more and better plants with just some lean meats I would actually get healthier. Every medical information place from the Mayo clinic to Wedmd to Texas ER's tells me to eat the wrong diet! Plant based low fat has made me very sick, yet it is absolutely everywhere! Without you I never would have really tried Keto! I like that you are a voice of reason who has carefully looked at the real science instead of following the typical information!

@jenswalks
@jenswalks 2 жыл бұрын
Overcooking eggs damages their protein, making them indigestible (so they give you heartburn) The yolk in a hard boiled egg should be a bright yellow and only JUST solid. If the yolk has turned into a rubber ball and/or there's a blue ring around it, then the egg has been grossly overcooked. Throw it out! Also, are you eating the eggs with any kind of bread? Bread and ice cream used to give me heartburn. My heartburn went away, never to return after I gave up sweet and starchy carbs.

Try this: Crack you eggs into a small coated deep edged pan with a Tbsp of butter. On LOW heat, melt butter & carefully add your eggs. Stir the whites only careful not to break the yolks until the whites are almost cooked, then mix in the yolks & continue but don't let them get hard. The flavour & texture is awesome. Only way I don't get indigestion too!

I have low HDL. I can't eat straight egg because of a sensitivity I have with eggs. I can eat it if it's diluted in other dishes. I haven't seen what my current HDL is since starting keto 9 months ago but I'm curious to see what my low carb diet has done for my HDL level.

Fix Your Fear of Eggs! As June 2020 Journal of the American College of Cardiology “Whole-fat dairy, unprocessed meat, eggs and dark chocolate are SFA-rich foods with a complex matrix that are not associated with increased risk of CVD. The totality of available evidence does not support further limiting the intake of such foods. The paper also notes, “These historical facts demonstrate that saturated fats were an abundant, key part of the ancient human diet.”

Eggs are cheap here in China, where I live. Beef, mutton, and pork are very expensive. Vegetables are also very cheap. Cheese is like gold. I think I am going to have to adapt Dr. Westman's protocol to Chinese food. Most keto cookbooks require a lot of very expensive ingredients. They are obviously meant for people living in the West.

When there was a big fuss saying we should only eat egg white, I thought: "That's horsesh*t. If eggs have something bad in them, eat fewer eggs, but don't waste the egg yolIk." So I ignored this as one of the specious health advisories we are constantly bombarded with. I more recently suspect that cereal manufacturers paid for studies to falsely condemn eggs because they wanted to steer people to their product for breakfast instead of eggs. I eat a lot of eggs and have lost weight as well as no longer having hypertension.

Eggs are really good for satiety, but because I am a hyper-absorber of dietary cholesterol, Dr. Tom Dayspring recommends reducing intake. Now because I have poor satiety, I end up eating a lot of nuts and seeds and I still feel like eating a while later. Chicken breasts and lean beef do not provide me with any satiety and all. Avocados and olive oil do not give me satiety either.
