Why are Europe's Richest and Most Dangerous Cities so Near to Each Other?

I explored the South Coast of France, from the vibrant but deadly metropolis of Marseille through to the Billionaire's Playground, Monaco.
In my experience, Marseille did not seem overly dangerous, but every month there are multiple gang shootouts in this city, and civilians are often caught in the crossfire.
Meanwhile, Monaco was exactly what was expected, a clean, beautiful paradise for the wealthy. Fast cars and luxury yachts adorned the small city where almost half of residents are millionaires...

Thank you so much! Yeah I was definitely tired by the time I'd finished Monaco! What you don't see is hours and hours of walking around trying to get my bearings! Florence was outstanding I just left but I had a friend show me around and it's such a beautiful city. In fact I think it's the most beautiful city I've been to!

Thank you so much, that really means a lot to me. Making videos is a skill I am learning and it's really not as easy as many people (including me before) would imagine. I had to learn so much about filming, audio, frame rates, resolution, editing etc etc. In the end what looks simple is actually quite complex behind the scenes, but I enjoy it (mostly). Your comment really means a lot to me because it reminds me why I spend that extra time trying to go from okay to good. One day they'll go from good to great!

Oh brother, believe me I know. Some US Cities are really terrible. I remember looking into Chiraq (Chicago) some time back and was mortified. Military doctors would train in Chicago because they'd get exposure to battlefield type injuries there. I will say, though, that I probably didn't do justice to the danger of Marseille, there are around 50 gang related deaths per year and civilians are often caught in the crossfire. There is a lot of trouble but I would guess it's mostly concentrated in the outskirts / suburbs. I would say for anyone wanting to visit Marseille, you're probably pretty safe to do so, just stick to the centre.

Monaco very much reminds me on Geneva, where I paid the equivalent of £20 for a mcdonald's, felt like I'd been mugged

Monaco is the richest country in the world, though it's hard to think of it as a country when it's smaller than many large towns in England.

I remember being in sennelarger on stag and hearing wild boar in the forest in front of me and shitting myself hoping black rounds would scare them off, don't mess with then they basically have knifes of there faces

Yeah absolutely, it was surprising to see them and I was worried they'd approach the car, but thankfully not. I've also seen a tortoise just wandering about here in Italy - absolutely mad.

Because thé money from Crime is Huge and ends in those Cities , the same happens in Spain with Marbella full of Drug Lords from all around Europe and the ghettos from Malaga/Algeciras/Almeria

Are you from Spain? I've been to Spain many times and Portugal too which is the only reason I didn't go on this trip. My impression is that the centre of Marseille is generally safe, although there have been incidents there. The outskirts, however, are where the real trouble is.

@@BritishLandeur yeah , im from Spain !! lived in Madrid now in the North ( Asturias ) . And i grew up in Brussels , aint gonna lie , Marseille look pretty amazing in your video , beautiful city , much better than Brussels ! But yes , the outskirts is where are the Real Hoods , like ´ la Castellan´ from the Quartier-Nords. In the Center , Noailles is famous !!

It's a little tricky for me to go there for a number of reasons. If I was in an English speaking place waving my camera around, I would at least be able to explain what I am doing. The problem with going to the real 'hood' areas of a city like Marseille is that a) I will probably get robbed and b) I actually can't even explain wtf I'm doing. I think the central area of Marseille is beautiful honestly and totally worth visiting. That being said, I am in Italy at the moment and the cities / towns are on another level honestly. European countries second or third cities seem to be way better to me in terms of authenticity and beauty. I have not made it to Rome yet, but Florence was amazing. I prefer Salamanca to Barcelona, or Madrid honestly.
